I feel like we as fans are suffering a major hangover from last years team going 39-1. This team just does not seem to have it. Not that they cant get it together and I believe they eventually will. We just expect to much of this group. They need more time, thats all and hopefully its March when they get it together. Maybe an unexpected run like UCONN made a couple years ago. Your thoughts?

Don't think so but I wouldn't complain if we won the rest of our games.

Compare:

Karl Towns - Skal
Willie - Lee
Lyles - Poythress
Andrew - Ulis
Aaron - Murray

Does this years team look anything close to last years? That is the reason we have lost 4 games already.

I don't think we have the talent but hope I am wrong on that. I feel this is an extremely weak freshman class all over the country and even though we did get some of the best freshmen, they are not as strong as other freshmen we have had go through our program under Cal. We can always hope, you never know.

Who, love the optimistism! I'm not counting them out yet either. On the other hand, I'm not betting the farm on this team.

I don't have any problem with the team. They are young. I believe that the fan base is too greedy. What makes Kentucky great is also what makes it a thorn in any player or coaches side, the fanatics that expect the team to win every game.

If we win the rest of our games, I buy the beer!

I don't expect us to win every game, but I expect us to compete and to improve as the year goes on. That is what I look for, and right now I have not see n enough of either.

MH, love to have you especially knowing you came because we won all our games from this point on. You are welcome anytime along with any other TCDer.

I don’t expect to be in the Final Four or win a national championship every year but I do expect to have a team that can legitimately compete for a chance at the Final Four. Unless this team does a complete 180 neither will happen. I hope to eat these words come late March, early April.

Sorry but am I the ONLY ONE who thinks that we should have MORE than one title with the talent we have had the past 7 years?

Maybe I am delusional (sic) ?

Nope. Cal should have 3 Championships and we should be only one away from catching UCLA. But that's the breaks of the game. You have to be perfect to win a championship and we had a couple of bad games with WV and WI. Funny how they both start with the letter "W". Hope we don't have to play anyone in the tourney that starts with a "W".

I think this is correct. We have not won a game against any team at their court this season. Plus, all four losses were at the other teams court and against unranked teams.

Have been watching this year and hate to see us lose at the other guys places. Was listening to the ESPN guys this morning. They say our shooters don't defend and our defenders can't shoot. We are lost in space when it comes to our offense. Really up in the air. We have no presence in the paint like we did in Towns and Davis. Lots of times we throw it in and we lose it. Skal get another foul, loses the ball, we have great dunking...if we get close enough to dunk.
We have some tough games ahead, we have to figure it out..but how can you shoot well when you don't shoot well..? Saw Golden State pound Lebron last night..what great shooting, they were 42 points ahead at one point, they won by 34 or so.

I think we should have had 3 new National Championship banners hanging in the rafters since Cal came to UK myself. Just an opinion. We certainly have had the talent to win that many.

Actually we maybe should have had 4, the loss to UConn was a bad loss for the National Championship.

Sometimes poop happens but when it comes to National Championship runs we have had more than our share these past years.

But as someone famously said "Winning isn't the best thing, it's the only thing." [Wink]

Both UK and Duke seems to always have top top recruiting classes coming in over the last several years, UK has more Number one classes coming in than anyone since Coach Cal came to UK. Why is Duke winning more championships? Has to be the coaching staff. Does it have anything to do with the two coaches that left and went to Tampa? Our big guys haven't looked good since Coach Orlando left.

Never thought of that Gunny, but it does make some sense. There is no question that Antigua was a good coach and Cal depended on him a lot. He helped the team play with passion like he did as a player and was a good go between for the players.

We did beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa, right? That is one road victory!

I believe Kenny Payne is a good coach, he might not be quite as vocal as the others mentioned, but still a solid big mans coach! Towns improved as the season progressed last year!

Payne is definitely a very good coach and Cal uses him a lot.

I really wouldn't be one bit surprise of a big time school hired Payne.
