Ranked No. 16 and riding a seven-game win streak, Mike Anderson’s Arkansas squad is Kentucky’s toughest competition on the SEC schedule. Problem is, his Razorbacks have to travel to Lexington for their one shot and taking down college basketball’s No. 1 team. That’s not an easy task for anyone.

CBSSports.com caught up with Anderson today for a little chat as his team gets ready for its road trip to the Bluegrass. Anderson, who beat the Wildcats in both meetings last season, sees this year’s game as the ultimate challenge and a great opportunity for his program.

“(Kentucky) is very, very talented,” Anderson told Jon Rothstein. “It’s one of the more talented teams you’re going to see from a depth standpoint. Obviously, the numbers speak for themselves. Kentucky is undefeated right now and they’re a very good basketball team. They’ve got size, a few 7-footers, the Harrison twins are playing very well, Devin Booker — they’ve got McDonald’s All-Americans. The Tyler Ulis kid is a guy that I think is a really good basketball player. They’re one of the best teams in the country and it gives us the ultimate challenge of playing them at their place. It’s a great opportunity.”

A 7 game winning streak is pretty darn good!

A 28 game winning streak is better.

Norm, can't disagree with that statement!

YEah, since even our very own program, and the oldest one of you on this site, has never seen a UK 28 game winning streak before this year!

Arkansas is the one game all year that worried me, even at home.

Our guys had better be ready for the type of athletic, talented competition we haven't seen since North Carolina or Louisville. And Anderson seems to have our number.

Beware! This might be the game that really exposes our weaknesses. And if we don't come prepared to play 40 minutes of hell, matching them in energy and intensity, we might just lose.

There is no doubt about any Richardson team they will not quit and they will flat wear you out. It will be 40 minutes of Hell. We do have the athletes that will compete and Cal has played enough Richardson teams to know what to expect so I'm sure we will be prepared.

Our depth will help a bunch!

Like Tt points out if we have any weaknesses Anderson's team will find them. It will tell us a lot about our team for sure.

We really need this kind of test, before tourney
time.

I agree, Eleem!

A win on Saturday will be big as we have not played a team like Arkansas all year. They will put a lot of pressure on the ball and they won't stop till the game ends.

If we can handle pressure it will tell us a lot about this team.

We've got the guards, hopefully they will step up to the challenge!

The good thing with 2 very good guards the chances of both having a bad game is low!

You've actually got 4 guards that can handle the ball plus a center that wants to play point center at times! [Big Grin]

You make a good point.

Sure hate to see Dakari or Lee handling the rock to often though.

Yeah, they are smart enough to give it up when they come down with it!

Lee hardly played last night.

Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 03-01-2015, 09:27 AM:

He played 3 minutes in the game.

Lee's stat was 1 t/o and the rest were goose eggs.

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 03-01-2015, 01:48 PM:

YOu won't do much in 3 minutes!

Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 03-01-2015, 02:46 PM:

That's my point and hope Lee gets more minutes as he is getting better. I think next year with a good summer he will be a special player for the Cats.

I can see him being in the NBA if works on his offense and develops a mid range jumper.

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 03-01-2015, 03:16 PM:

He's still a year or two away!

Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 03-01-2015, 11:42 PM:

It's obvious Lee isn't ready yet. I just think he has the physical ability and just needs to hone his skills and he will have a chance to be a very good player.

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 03-02-2015, 04:59 AM:

HE should be getting the opportunity to hone his skills every day in practice against the best!

We beat Arkansas and now we go to the Peach State to play Georgia. Hopefully we will be healthy and ready to play another solid game.
