THIS IS ONE TEAM I WOULDNT WANT TO PLAY IN TOURNEY. I LOVE THEIR STYLE, AND THEIR COACH. I LIKE THE WAY HE COACHES.

Iowa State are an up and down team, lose to someone like South Carolina but beat up on Texas last night. I am not that impressed with Iowa State, do not fear them and would have no problem facing them in the tournament. I personally think the Big 12 is a vastly overrated conference this season with Kansas being the cream of the crop once again and you know what we did to Kansas and Texas, two of the league's rated teams. Texas have become a very bad team all of a sudden, Kansas just killed them on their home floor. Texas are really on a down turn and you can't put a lot of stock on a win against them the way they are playing right now.

The reason behind Iowa State's prominence is their coach Fred Hoiberg. He is the backbone of the program and one heck of a coach. He took over the losing program and the first he had a losing season but by the next year he had brought in players that could play and has had a winning program ever since. He doesn't get the big name recruits but manages to take good players and make them better.

He was a Iowa State graduate and was a very good player scoring 2000 points in his Iowa State Career. He played for the Pacers and Bulls in the NBA before taking over the Iowa State program.

He certainly is an outstanding coach, I would love to see what he could do with talent like Cal has at Kentucky. He might be the most even keeled coach in college basketball today, I love his sideline demeanor.

IF I WAS LOOKING FOR A COACH, HE WOULD BE THE FIRST I WENT AFTER. JMO

I remember the game when we played Hoiberg's Iowa State team a few years back when they had Royce White playing for them. It was our Davis team so we beat them pretty good but they played us hard and you could tell they were well coached as they keyed on Davis and kept him from scoring like he normally did.

I don't think Hoiberg will ever leave Iowa State as he from Ames Iowa, went to Iowa State, married a Iowa State cheerleader and is idolized by the whole town and is known as the "Mayor". He has a good thing going that's for sure.

Tubby Smith and Texas Tech whooped up on them for 36 minutes on Saturday, led by 15 to 20 much of the game, and then held on for the victory in the last 4 minutes. It was Texas Tech's first win in the Big 12 this season.

I like Hoiberg a lot as well, but I wouldn't mind playing Iowa State at all this year.

I can honestly say there's not a team out there that really scares me. I'm not saying we cannot be beat, and I think we will lose a game eventually. But I think if we play to our potential, our opponent is in serious trouble.

Paul, me too, my goodness with talent we have it's mind boggling. If we get all our players on the same page it's no telling how good we could be. IMO we aren't even close to our potential.

I would not trade this team for any other in the country. I'm sure there must be a better individual player somewhere (but I don't know where), but as a team, UK is the cream of the crop.

LSU MATCHES UP WITH US MAN FOR MAN BETTER THAN ANYBODY WEVE PLAYED THIS YEAR. WATCH THEM. JMO

I see they beat Vandy in overtime in their last game and they have racked up a lot of wins. We play them at their place in February and it does look to be a tough game as Mickey and Martin are solid ball-players.

That week we have back-to-back away games at Florida and at LSU. It will be a real test.

You can't win the Derby with a mule.

I will take the coach who can recruit the best players.

Bring on all comers. I haven't seen a team out there yet this season that I don't think we can beat. LIke others here, I'm not saying we couldn't lose on a given night, but there's an awful lot of talent on this team for everyone to be down on the same night!

We all hope we can win every game but there are teams out there that want to bring us down and think that they can. It's going to fun watching our Cats play these remaining games.

There are teams that run, that I just don't think want to run with us! That would be playing right into our strength!

We have the ability to play many different ways and can adapt to most anything teams throw at us.

This is true, GB. Last year there wasn't a single number 1 seed in teh championship game! That's why I only worry about 1 at a time!

I wouldn't mind playing Iowa State in the tournament.

The only team I do not want to face in the tournament is puke. Not because I believe they are exceptionally good but I fear how horrible the officiating would be. If we play them it would be late in the tournament. Imagine the momentum there would be in the media for the fairy tale story of coach krybaby winning the championship the year he got his 1000th win. It would be like a steamroller; worse than when wooden retired in '75.

It would be good against evil (which in my mind it really would be except I would see it in reverse of the media - UK good, puke evil); coach krybaby, who does it the right way vs Cal and his one and done system (facts are optional for this story).

I hope puke loses early in the tourney because once that hype locomotive gets moving its going to be hard to stop. It will be foreordained.

Actually, I think Duke is the type of team that will give us the most problems, biased referees or not.

They have four good shooters, decent penetrators, and a beast in the middle. That combination will test our defense more than most. Defensively, the zone that they run is very, very effective.

I hope that they get rolled by some 15-seed in the first round. [Smile]

I DONT WANT TO PLAY KANSAS AGAIN. THEY HAVE IMPROVED A GREAT DEAL. BUT HECK BRING EM ON MY THEORY HAS ALWAYS BEEN YOU GOT TO BEAT EM ALL TO WIN IT ALL, JUST LOOK AT LAST YEAR, I CANT REMEMBER A TEAM HAVING TO GO THROUGH THE TEAMS WE DID TO GET TO FINAL GAME, AND IF WE HAD HIT FREE THROWS WE WIN.

I think Duke has been one and done the last 2 out 3 yrs haven't they? Just a guess...
