Coach Calipari now has a higher win percentage record at UK than Adolph Rupp did.

Rupp - 876-190 for a .8217 winning percentage

Cal - 171-37 for a .8221 win percentage.

You have to remember the Rupp coached Kentucky for like 42 years and still had a 82% winning percentage. That is flat out special.

Cal is in his 6th year with the Cats so has a few more years to catch up to Rupp. His record is phenomenal but has a few more years to keep his winning pace to do what Rupp did.

IF RUPP PLAYED AS MANY GAMES AS COACH K DOES A YEAR, OR ANY COACH NOW, HE WOULD NEVER BE CAUGHT IN WINS.

That is true GB but you also have to remember basketball is a lot bigger game now than it was back then and has progressed dramatically. With all the AAU summer leagues it's easy to see why there is far more and talented players now than back in the 40-70's.

Shoot guys, I think even IU's unbeaten season only had 32 games in it back then!

WHo was the last coach to stay at the same program for 42 years?

Probably Boeheim has the longest tenure of active coachs with 39 years.

Coach K would be next with 35 years or very close to that.

Has Beohiem been at Cuse since '76? WOW

I think. K took the dUKe job in '81

I didn't realize Boeheim will be 71 this year either!

Correction, K's been at dUKe since '80

Boeheim is a fixture at Syracuse and will be there to the day he retires.

It seems like he has played that zone defense since the day he got there.

I believe he married a Kentucky girl and have been married since the mid 1990's.

Boeheim has won 75% of his games at Syracuse.

I actually played horse against Jim at the '97 NCAA Tourney. I went to the Nike fan zone which was right next door to the RCA Dome in that day. One fo the things you got to do was play H_O_R_S_E against a coach. Jim just happen to be the one when I got to play. I got him to HOR before he put me out. It'll surprise you how well many coaches shoot the ball!

I knew Boeheim was second in all time wins behind K!

MH, I have no doubt you did but did you know Boeheim has coached Syracuse in the NIT or the NCAA tournament every year but one since he has been at Syracuse since 1976-1977?

I'll be honest with you, I didn't realize Boeheim played at Syracuse. Of course that was before my time! [Wink]
