I bet WCS will make as much or mor more than Patterson before he is done playing basketball.

For all those still wondering how Willie Cauley-Stein turned down a chance to be a possible lottery pick or at the worst a first-round pick in the June NBA Draft to stay at Kentucky, take a look at former Wildcat Patrick Patterson.

Remember when he decided to stay at UK for another season to play for John Calipari rather than head to the NBA.

Now that added year of experience is perhaps paying off. He started his NBA career with Houston, played for Sacramento and now seems to have found a home in Toronto playing for former Cat Dwane Caey. He has apparently signed a three-year, $18 million deal with the Raptors.

Patterson also had interest from the Phoenix Suns and Orlando Magic. He averaged 9.1 points and 5.1 rebounds in about 23 minutes per game and shot 41.1 percent on 3-pointers in 48 games with Toronto last season after being acquired from Sacramento.

Patterson, a restricted free agent, is the same type of solid two-way player in the NBA that he was at UK and obviously values playing in the right spot now just as much as he did in college because he likely could have signed a bigger deal.

So maybe a few years from now, Cauley-Stein will be landing that same type of lucrative deal that Patterson has that will more than justify the decision to stay in school another year.
