It's amazing how low the standards are at Tennessee. I think if the Boston strangler was a good basketball player and played at Tennesse he would have never been convicted and would have got play...

Tennessee junior center Brian Williams has been reinstated to the Volunteers after he was suspended for a Jan. 1 arrest.

Tyler Smith was dismissed from the team for his role, while guards Cameron Tatum and Melvin Goins were reinstated Jan. 17.

Coach Bruce Pearl says he feels he treated each player fairly with their discipline and hopes they have grown from the experience.

I guess drug, gun and alcohol violations are no big deal as long as your on the basketball team at Tennessee. Sad to say the least, what does that tell all our young people?

It's a tad but ironic that this reinstatment is a few day before Brucie and his band of thugs play Kentucky.

I'd rather beat them at their best, anyway. People make mistakes. Hopefully these kids learned something and they can move past it.

Having a gun is one thing---having a gun with defaced serial numbers is another. That's a federal violation of the law. Where were the FEDS in this investigation....ATF, in particular?

I haven't kept up on the story for a while, but I believe that Tyler Smith was the culprit and they other three were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

John Wall was given a citation for breaking and entering prior to enrolling at UK this summer. Once again, I think that was a wrong place and wrong time situation. Should he not be allowed to play at UK because of that? I don't think so.

I think UT was right in dismissing Smith and allowing the other three players back. If they were truly trying to make sure they were competitive than they would have found a way to have gotten their BEST player, Tyler Smith, reinstated IMO.

CT, I agree the Feds should be investigating Tyler Smith and hopefully they are.

Was there ever any doubt that they would be reinstated before they played the Cats?

I had no doubts although I'm not sure how much help he's going to be other than 5 extra fouls!
