What passing game? I realize the windy conditions were not conducive to passing the ball, but still. I'm amazed Bennie is effective as he he. I don't want to complain about our present QB too much but it would sure improve our offense if he was a more effective passer. Sometimes I think we should run the wildcat on every play and be done with it. I suppose the coaches are doing the best they can with the talent at that position.

Don't mean this to sound like a whiny complaining post as I'm enjoying this team and this year more than any I can remember in UK football. I was never a Stoops fan, still question his play calling at times, but I've got to give the man credit. He has made UK football revelent, the first times in many years.

I agree with your post Handy, just think how good a running game we could have if we just had a passing attack to loosen up the defensive lines and linebackers. Snell gets a lot of yardage considering they are keying on him on almost every play. The defense is winning games for them right now. Hopefully the offense will get it going. I would love to see them win the SEC east for a change and that is certainly within their grasp if they can get a balanced attack between passing and running the ball.

It makes you wonder if the receivers are not getting open or if Wilson just bails out too quick. It’s frustrating to watch.

Even more frustrating when you are standing in 30-40 mph winds. It started getting very rough before halftime and didn't start dropping down until near the end of the game. The cold wasn't that much but the winds were the worst I've ever seen. We still have a problem with both the offensive and defensive lines. If we are going to challenge MO and GA they have got to start clearing some holes for Bennie. Over half of what he gets is on his own. We made it past the game that would have killed our good season last night, but we did have some breaks that helped us. Now we have another game with MO that will determine if we get a better bowl location than Nashville or Memphis.

I was looking at the stats and it shows we completed 3 passes for a total of 18 yards. At least one of those passes was for a TD. The winds could have made a huge impact on the passing game but we have really not been all that strong all season long when it comes to passing. I get the feeling the QB prefers running the ball to passing. He did have a good rushing night with some 91 yards.

I am really impressed with Bernie Snell as a RB, he has to get most of that yardage on his own with the defenses keying on him.

what has happened to our supposed great Tight end that is a 1st rounder C J Conrad. You can block only so much they have to get him the ball...

Some thoughts...

(1) We have a great RB (Snell), and another really good one (Rose). Do we really need a running QB? If so, why not line up in the veer or the triple-option? I think it is time to give Hoak a shot at running the offense. A valid passing game would make our running game so much better. I can't imagine how hard it was for our o-line when Vandy started putting 7 guys on the line, and 9 in the box! Just making the linebackers play honest would make the o-line's job a LOT easier.

(2) Conrad is misused, IMO. When he is playing, he is usually third option. The few times he has been the target for a pass, most of them have been out to the flat, and poorly thrown. Get him the ball when he is heading north-south with a full head of steam and that hoss can carry some defenders with him! The way that Vandy used their tight end should be the way we use Conrad. Run him down the middle of the field and make him the primary option on some plays.

(3) Josh Allen and Benny Snell are decadal talents. Both qualify as the best player on the team. Allen is the best defender I have seen in a UK uniform, probably since Art Still. And Snell is just an incredible running back, with instincts and physical tools that set him apart from any other UK running back (and we have had some good ones!).

(4) When was the last time we had a defensive secondary this good? Although I don't like the hybrid zone/man we often play, we sure have some good DBs and safeties!

Really, we have a solid, solid football team. Good o-line, good receivers, great running backs, good d-line, great linebackers, and good DBs. The weak link right now is at QB. Either Wilson has to start passing effectively, or he needs to sit. Ever since the A&M game, his judgement has been pretty poor. He seems to have lost his poise. Give another QB an extended look (not just one series at the end of the game), and see if it helps!

Good thoughts Tip but no way this late in the season will the coaching staff make a change in qb.

What if they did and go with gunner and we lose!! Stoops may even get fired if they go on and lose a cpl more. Nope we are stuck with Wilson if winning and probably even if we lose....

Bad decisions by the staff to not start Gunner the 1st of the yr. now too late imo

I am not suggesting that we bench Wilson... but give Gunnar more than a token series at the end of a blowout. Maybe a couple of series each half? It would sure shake up the defensive plans of the opponents!

I didn't see where the wind affected our passing game. He just made some bad passes. The field is the same for both teams and Vandy has a QB who's passing was 10 times better than ours. We could not stop most of his passes. We just got lucky at the right time to keep them from scoring again. It is amazing that a team knows who is going to be running the ball and they let him get 169 yds.

I heard a report earlier today that Lynn Bowden was practicing some at qb this week. He put up phenomenal numbers in high school, I don't believe he could do any worse than Wilson has his last six quarters of football.

Stoops said that they will play 'several quarterbacks'.... and Bowden was mentioned (not by Stoops) as a possibility.

The best outcome is that Wilson "wakes up" and develops into a dual threat QB. Right now, that just isn't the case.

Next best outcome is that we find our "QB for the future" and start getting him more and more reps.

They should fire the OC and his QB Coach.....

Snell will be gone after this season and whole lot of the D will be gone.

The O needs to win a few games, newxt season with a QB that can throw the damn ball.

Had they started Danny Clark, he would have been ready to win games with his arm, next season.

What they will have is a QB that cant throw and no Snell to get the tough yards when the load the box to stop the run, because the passing game will be nil.

You are right about the departures next year, Boom. But I am worried about this year. This is our once-in-a-decade good season, and it has a legitimate shot to be legendary. We need to find a solution to our passing game NOW.

I like Gran...don't necessarily want him gone. Not even sure who the QB coach is. But firing coaches will not fix THIS SEASON.

Give Gunnnar or the Clark kid a legitimate look in the Missouri game, and keep giving them reps, increasing them if they perform. We need a much more balanced offense (still run-heavy, because we have the Amazing Snell), but every damn team is going to do what Vandy did and put 7 on the line and 9 in the box if Wilson is still our QB.

Clark is not some stiff that can't get 5 yards on a scramble. What I don't get is the QB coach and the OC sticking with the QB and not pulling him when he is playing awful. The A & M game was a disaster and the QB play was very poor. The coaches did nothing. It was depressing to see as a fan. The only dumber coach I have seen at Kentucky was Bill Curry. He was the dumbest guy to every coach here.

This season has one of the best defenses that we have ever seen. And, the coaches are pissing it away, by not getting the most out of the QB position. It is a hard thing to understand.

Lynn Bowden needs more touches. Whatever the team has to do to get the ball in his hands, DO IT!!!

Terry Wilson can't hit anyone. It's embarrassing! We need to try someone else or we will lose.

This season could have been great, but stoops can't coach. Everybody knows what play he's calling

It's becoming painfully obvious we just don't have a QB on the roster who can pass the ball.

The play calling doesn’t help. So predictable.
No imagination at all. The run the same plays out of the same set over and over.

Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. Coaches are clueless. You have to kick the FG there. You are down two scores with under 8 minutes and you are already 0-2 on 4th down today. Just stupid

What a win today. Defense and special teams won the game for them in spite of the coaching staff. They did not let Missouri get a first down in the entire second half. One hell of a defense we have there, a shame we don't have the offensive minds to create a consistent offense, especially with the running back we have in Snell.

We have to find a way to get better offensive play calling next week against Georgia otherwise it could be an ugly day.

Defense has been great all year. They kept UK in the game. I give Wilson a ton of credit for making big throws on that last drive. WR’s also had some nice catches.
