Among the awards Snell is in contention for include SEC Offensive Player of the Year, the Doak Walker Award (for the nation’s top running back), and the Heisman Trophy.

We are four weeks into the season, and Kentucky is 4-0 and 2-0 in the SEC with both of those wins being over top 25 teams. Now, Kentucky is back into the top 25 (#17) for the first time since 2007, and this team and fanbase deserves it.

However, one thing is still out there that needs to start being talked about, and that is it’s time for the Benny Snell Heisman talks to really begin. Thus far, we’ve not see Snell get much Heisman hype around the nation, and oddsmakers aren’t exactly high on him either.

Entering Week 4, Snell had 200-1 odds to win the Heisman, which wasn’t even among the 25 best odds. For a player that’s carried a program into the top 25 for the first time in a decade, you’d think he’d be getting a little more Heisman pub, but to this point, it hasn’t come.

Odds are, Snell will not win the Heisman trophy over guys like Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa and Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray, but there is no reason he should not be in contention for it and a finalist for the trophy.

Through the first four games this season, Snell is averaging 135 yards a game with an average of 6.2 yards per carry and right at 1.75 TDs a game. In their last matchup with Mississippi State, Snell punched it in four times to increase his career TD total to 39, surpassing Randall Cobb’s 37 career TDs for first all time in school history. Plus, Snell has broken that record in two seasons and four weeks.
