Kentucky’s 2017 football recruiting class got a huge boost today when Maryland defensive lineman Joshua Paschal — the younger brother of former UK player TreVaughn Paschal — picked Kentucky over Notre Dame, Oklahoma and many others.
He’s ranked among the nation’s top 300 overall players by several recruiting services and as the 11th-best defensive prospect in the nation by 247Sports.
The 6-4, 255-pound Paschal is considered among the most athletic defensive linemen in the country by recruiting analysts. He visited UK the first weekend in December. His brother is now a graduate assistant on Mark Stoops’ staff.
“A big factor in his decision was his relationship with his brother, former Kentucky defensive end and current graduate assistant, TraVaughn Paschal,” 247Sportsa analyst Josh Edwards reported.
Paschal also had offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, USC and Clemson among his other offers. He is a four-star player and second highest ranked player in UK’s 2017 recruiting class behind receiver JaVonte Richardson.

It's hard for me to get excited about verbal commits in football. When he signs his name on the dotted line, then I'll jump through the roof!

He must be awfully good if he was offered a scholarship by Oklahoma and Notre Dame. It's good to see he is even interested in Kentucky.

Just to have Paschal commit to the Cats shows how well our recruiters are making progress with the better talent in the country.
