To win 4 games this season. I'm not really sure I see that many!
Until we can learn how to stop the run we are going to be trying to play keep up with everyone!

I am convinced now after 3 OC's that Stoops is the problem. I don't know what he does to cause these guys to come to Kentucky and suddenly not be who they were, but I am convinced that he gets in the way of the play calling in an attempt to save his defense. I sincerely believe that Kentucky needs an innovative, offensive minded coach that will speed up the game and maximize the number of possessions and plays to attempt to compete in this league.

Well prepared, well coached teams do not lose leads like the Ky team did last night. A disgrace to the state of Kentucky. Stoops is terribly overpaid for the product he puts on the field. He is the problem with UK football, not his assistants year in and year out. He is just not head coaching material in my humble opinion.

I think he needs to quit worrying about the offense and concentrate on the defense. You can't give up 34 unanswered points to a Conf USA team with a 1st year head coach and mediocre OC. I wish Stoops would fire his buddy Elliot or resign. It is also obvious that Stoops is not a competent in-game coach. This is beyond embarrassing.

What gets me is that we ran many of the same high-school plays that we ran last year, and I thought USM ran a legit offense. So if Dawson left, why didn't his plays go with him?

To me it looks like we have good players, we just don't know what to do with them. We have some good weapons on offense at the WR and RB positions. There's no way we should go scoreless in a half against USM.

We were supposed to have a great offensive line. So Miss was undersized and they still they made our line look like a hs line in the 2nd half!

Nxt wk Fl has one of the best defenses in the nation - so if we cant score in the 2nd half against So Miss watch out sat.

Every yr I let myself get sucked into the hype THINKING that maybe it real this yr and each year I waste my time watching the cats - WELL I will not do it this year. Ill read about it in the paper!!

wow just never seen a ky team get beat that bad by ANYONE in their own house. sad and it will get worst Im afraid!! DJ Elliot is horrible

Standing in section 34/35 I was embarrassed for them. When you start agame and play a half with only 5 yards in penalties and no turnovers and then end up with the total yards in penalties and 3 turnovers, something is wrong. We have been fed the Kool-Aid and we filled up on it. Stoops has talked for 4 years now and told us how high these kids are rated out of high school. But they are not doing it here. Matt Elim is one of the biggest disappointments I've seen to be rated so good. I thought we might win 5 games again if we got lucky, and then I seen how bad some of the SEC teams we were playing and thought we could go 4-4. That has all changed after watching this game. We will be winning maybe 4 games unless Stoops can pull a magic trick.

I have never believed in Stoops. I said it from the day he was hired. He can recruit, but he does not have the skills to run an entire program.

I long for the days of Rich Brooks. He was a better recruiter than most think and he maximized the talent on the roster.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

I'm sorry. I just do not believe UK will EVER have a respectable football team. I have gotten to the point that when anti-UK people make fun of me over the UK football team, I just laugh and agree with them. In other words, we are laughable. Thank God for John Calipari and all the other great basketball coaches we have had! Bring on Big Blue Madness!!!!

A few points:

Southern Miss is a far better team than you all seem to be allowing for. I expected a tough game.

Dawson knew exactly what our defense was going to do, and called some spectacular plays as a result. The screen pass on our blitz was a killer.

Southern Miss just flat out beat us in the trenches in the second half. I was actually feeling pretty good about our O-line and D-line in the first half, but honestly, we just got whipped in the second half. They ran the ball down our throats, and routinely got pressure on our QB.

Speaking of pressure on the QB, we managed to get good pressure in the first half, with great results. The second half, they adjusted to that by pretty much icing the QB and going with the misdirection run plays. We didn't adjust at all.

Time-of-possesion was ridiculously lopsided. Our defense was banged-up, cramping, and exhausted in the fourth quarter. We MUST control the clock better. A passing game need not leave the defense gasping for air in the fourth quarter -- keep the ball moving, and keep THEIR defense on the field.

This game looked eerily like the Louisville game last year. Started off looking like champs, then everything just fell apart. That is a leadership problem!

Some positives:

We have a lot of weapons on the offense, and can score quickly. I was pleasantly surprised by the long pass plays, something that has been missing for a number of years.

Barker looked very composed, and has a great touch with the ball.

Boom and Kemp make will make a heck of a pair of running backs if the O-line can do their part.

Our d-backs are impressive. Three interceptions is pretty darn good. Too bad So Miss adjusted and went with their running game.

Linebacker play was a question mark before the season. I was very pleased with how they played today.

Toth is a legit pro-prospect. He had some great blocks today.

There were a few good things to take away from last nights game and a lot of things we have to work on if we expect to win some SEC games. Coach Stoops has work cut out for him, no doubt about that.

That's what stinks! We DO have some pretty good players on offense and defense. To go one full half of a game and only get 14 offensive plays???? I'm one of those guys who rarely blames things on the coaches, but I don't think the UK coaches know how to win football games. We should've put up at least another 21 points on USM in the second half. I think it's safe to say that this is going to be one long football season.
