It sounds like Hatcher is determined to have a great season and you have to like his confidence.
Jason Hatcher readily admits he has “changed” since coming to Kentucky both on and off the field.
He was one of the big names in coach Mark Stoops’ first recruiting class and has played well at times during his first two years on UK’s defensive line. However, he’s also had some off-field issues that he has learned hurt his performance on the field.
He credits former UK defensive end Bud Dupree, a possible first-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft, for showing him the right path to take.
“I just had to talk to Bud and some other people on the team. They kid of showed me where certain actions would lead me towards and what was at the end of some of those tunnels,” said Hatcher. “Not that they had personally been down them, but they had known from being here for so much time that they had seen people go right and seen people go left and that was throughout the conversation. They were telling me places I didn’t want to go and that is what really flipped that switch.”
