The former UK starting quarterback, a Freshman All-SEC selection in 2011, all but officially announced he will not return to the program for a fifth and final season in 2015:

I’d like to thank all of my coaches, trainers, teachers and managers during my time at Kentucky. I made friends that I will have for a lifetime. I enjoyed every minute that I spent in Lexington and wouldn’t change it for anything. Although injuries kept me from being the QB I wanted to be for the University, I still enjoyed every moment I spent behind center. I’ll always be a Wildcat and want nothing but success for my brothers.

Smith threw for over 3,000 yards with 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 20 game appearances for Kentucky, including 11 starts. He tried to make a return from offseason shoulder surgery this past year but his arm just wasn’t the same after injuries in three consecutive seasons.

On media day, he said his plan is to coach in the SEC one day. Best of luck to him on pursuing that goal.

He sure would make a good quarterback coach and hope Kentucky remembers him if he decides to go into coaching.
