I think all four of these red-shirt freshmen made the right move and it's going to pay off big dividends by the time they graduate.

Kentucky played four redshirt freshman offensive lineman — Ramsey Meyers, Nick Haynes, Cole Mosier and Kyle Meadows — at times at Florida, but coach Mark Stoops liked the way the overall group performed.

“They really played and fought extremely hard. At one point, during critical portions of that game — which they were all critical — but we were playing with four freshmen. We had four redshirt freshmen that really went in and competed their tails off,” Stoops said. “We had a walk-on redshirt freshman left guard started and played the whole game, Cole Mosier. Nick Haynes had to come in because we’ve had injuries both to Kyle Meadows and Darrian Miller. When Darrian went down, so it was Ramsey Meyers and Kyle as well.

“I really thought they played very well under the circumstances, playing on the road in a very difficult environment against some very talented football players. Obviously they did some things that we need to get corrected and some things that we were overmatched at times. But there were other times where they protected extremely well. We were able to throw the ball down the field. So they did some good things and really grew up quite a bit, so I was quite pleased with how they fought and who they played.”

Any one player that stodd out?

“I think one guy that stood out was Darrian Miller. As I said, he got injured, injured his shoulder, went out for a few series, came back and played through the pain,” Stoops said. “Once Kyle went down, he knows we needed him and he really showed a lot of guts and a lot of character to come back and play while he was hurting. He actually played very well, so I was very pleased with Darrian’s effort.”
