It looks like we have got our quarterback of the future..

Patrick Towles has had a pretty good senior season. He won both the Paul Hornung and Gatorade Player of the Year Award for the state of Kentucky, he capped off an undefeated season with a state championship win over Franklin-Simpson in Bowling Green and now he has been named Kentucky’s Mr. Football by The Associated Press. Towles is the eleventh Mr. Football winner to go to UK and the first since Micah Johnson in 2005. He joins fellow Highlands Bluebird and former Kentucky quarterback, Jared Lorenzen, as the award’s recipient.

In fifteen games this season, Towles threw for 3,820 yards and 42 touchdowns while adding 589 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. If those numbers aren’t ridiculous enough for you, he also only threw one interception on the year. Towles has started for the Bluebirds since his sophomore season and has only lost one game as the starting quarterback.

Patrick was quoted after the state championship game saying that he is still 150 percent committed to the Cats and if he could write his name in stone then he would. You have to love that.

I read a statement from Lorenzen, that said he thought he was better than he was when he was his age. If that is true, maybe the Cats will be back on track with a QB that can make plays down the field.

I have not seen him in person yet and I know his numbers could have been a lot gaudier, but he was pulled early from a lot of games, to not run up the score and give others a shot at playing.

Has anyone seen him play? I am just wondering how strong of an arm the kid has and if he has real good touch and location on the short throws as well.
