With so much news surrounding Kentucky Wildcats basketball as of late, it was easy to forget transfer target Adam Miller is announcing his decision on Saturday.

Miller, who’s one of several key defections from Illinois this offseason (and may include Orlando Antigua), will make his commitment on May 1st. He confirmed the news with a video posted on Twitter.

As a true freshman this past season, Miller played in 31 games while averaging 8.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists. He shot 39.1% from the field and 34% from three. Of his 7.4 field-goal attempts per game, 4.9 came from three-point range. So while 39.1% overall shooting isn’t great, Miller took the majority of his shots from deep and converted at a solid rate, something Kentucky sure could use more of.

A former top-35 recruit in the class of 2020, Miller is one of the top transfers to hit the portal this offseason. The Cats would seemingly be in as good of shape as you could hope for if they add Antigua and fellow Illinois assistant Ron “Chin” Coleman to the staff, though neither move has been finalized yet.

Then again, Miller chose to leave Illinois, so perhaps he doesn’t want to reunite with the Illini’s top two assistants.

Whatever the case is, there’s been nothing concrete to suggest who the favorite is. My guess is it won’t be Kentucky since Davion Mintz hasn’t made his stay-or-go decision yet, and there are more proven guards Kentucky may be focusing on.

Also, it sounds like Iowa Hawkeyes transfer CJ Fredrick is still likely to become a Wildcat. It’s hard to see a scenario where Kentucky takes Fredrick and Miller, but stranger things have happened.
