When No. 1 overall prospect Cade Cunningham committed to and signed with Oklahoma State back in November, he said, "blood is thicker than water," citing his relationship with his brother, Cannen Cunningham, an assistant on the Cowboys staff.
But is blood thicker than NCAA sanctions?
That's what we're about to find out as Oklahoma State was issued, among other things, a postseason ban for the 2020-21 season by the NCAA Friday.
With no chance of making the NCAA Tournament, Cunningham is expected to at least explore other options. Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina and Washington were the other schools involved with his recruitment and the NBA G League's professional path could be another potential alternative.
On his Eye on College Basketball podcast Friday, CBS Sports' Gary Parrish expects the Wildcats to be firmly in the mix.
"His brother is on staff, that probably matters, some," Parrish said of Cunningham possibly sticking with Oklahoma State, "but I promise you, every school that was in there before he signed with Oklahoma State, they'll be back in there right now. Kentucky probably front and center."
