Last week, Kentucky Wildcats target and top overall player in 2021, Jon Kuminga, was ruled ineligible by the NJSIAA for thirty days due to transfer rules.
According to Adam Zagoria, Kuminga and two other players all sat out the Celtics’ season-opening win on Thursday.
Kuminga plays for The Patrick School, the same school that current Wildcat Nick Richards played at. However, this should not affect Kuminga’s eligibility in college, as it is just a transfer sit-out.
“We are in communication with the state officials trying to rectify the boys’ eligibility status,” Chris Chavannes, the Patrick School head coach and principal, told ZAGSBLOG.
Then on Monday, Kuminga was deemed immediately eligible to play after receiving a stay of proceedings from a judge, according to Zagoria. Kuminga proceeded to score 20 points in a win over No. 23 Roselle Catholic, 72-64.
