So my last two paychecks have included two different lines for a Ky Occupation Tax totaling $115 every two weeks. Keep in mind that they're still withholding Ky income taxes. So am I now being taxed because I work? I don't understand the difference between income taxes and this new occupation tax.
Also, the last two paychecks have included a Ky Mental Health tax - $6 per check. WTF?

I can answer your WTF question. We had a Republican but now have a Democrat governor. As simple as that.

We started receiving an occupational tax in Carroll County about 25 years ago. When the question was posed as to why the tax we were told it was to pay for anew jail in the county. Well, guess what? They're getting ready to build yet another jail because the other one is already obsolete! The tax never ended once the jail was paid for either! ANOTHER IMAGINE THAT!

That happened here in Hopkins county too, several years ago. The tax was renamed and remains today.
