Four-star quarterback Mac Jones told the Herald-Leader on Tuesday night that he has recently spoken to UK offensive coaches Eddie Gran and Darin Hinshaw and cleared up the status of his commitment to the Wildcats.
There was some confusion over how much Jones — a pocket passer — would be asked to run in UK’s offense, so much so that a Rivals.com analyst predicted the 6-foot-3 quarterback would ultimately choose another school before the end of his recruitment.
Rivals.com ranks Jones, a Jacksonville, Fla., native, as the No. 15 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2017.
He committed to UK in July and told the Herald-Leader last week that he was still “solid” with that pledge to the Wildcats despite the postseason departure of his lead recruiter, former offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson, and new scholarship offers from several other schools.
