The Louisville football team got some tough recruiting news Sunday evening with the announcement that four-star Michigan wide receiver Desmond Fitzpatrick, one of the Cardinals' first pledges in the 2016 class, had withdrawn his commitment.
Fitzpatrick, who's rated the nation's No. 59 wide receiver by Rivals.com and had been one of three four-star players committed to Louisville, according to that site, shared a lengthy post on Twitter announcing that he had informed the Cards' coaches that he would be looking for another school.
"I never imagined that the recruiting process would be so hard on your emotions," wrote Fitzpatrick, who committed to Louisville on Oct. 31, 2014. "I have been committed to the University of Louisville for over a year, and I have received a ton of love and support from the Louisville fans for the entire time of my commitment and that is why it's really hard to announce that I've spoke with the coaches at U of L and let them know that I am no longer honoring my verbal commitment to the University of Louisville and reopening my recruitment.
