It really sounds like we have a legitimate chance to get him but it has to be hard to turn down the big power house schools recruiting him.

Here’s everything he said:

Q: How’s that knee coming along?
Harris: It’s coming along. Injuries — you can’t prevent them. You just have to train the best you can. But they happen. That’s part of the game. I’m looking to make a strong recovery and come back better than ever.

Q: Why did you still go to Kentucky last week with the injury?
Harris: I’ve been really close with Coach Stoops and the staff. They’re a top contender in my decision right now. I woke up – I was going to see how things were feeling the next morning. I felt like I was able to go, so I made the trip.

Q: You didn’t rush the field, did you?
Harris: No, I didn’t. (Laughs). I actually wasn’t a part of that.

Q: You’ve already taken an official visit to Ohio State. What’s the game plan as far as official visits to the other four schools?
Harris: Well I haven’t necessarily decided yet. I’m still trying to decide when I want to make my official decision. So based on when I decide to make that decision, then I’ll set up my officials from there. But I don’t know right now.

Q: Any officials set right now?
Harris: I’ve got a couple. I’m going to take an official to Alabama on the 29th. An official to (Texas A&M) on Nov. 15. So we’ll just see where things go.

Q: You had an official scheduled for Kentucky, but plan is not to use that anymore. Why?
Harris: Well, I decided that I wanted to enroll early at first. But I was thinking on that decision. I talked with my mom, my family, my coaches, and we just decided that wasn’t what was best for me. So with my decision being pushed back, that will give me more time and opportunity to take other official visits.

Q: What goes into your choice for a school?
Harris: Just that family feel from the coaching staff. It’s extremely simple. I just want to feel extremely wanted by a staff. Very welcome by the atmosphere and the players. A rich football tradition, that’s extremely important. You kind of don’t want to go somewhere that doesn’t necessarily have that much going for them as a program. Good football tradition. A school that has a degree that’s worth a lot. That has a lot of value. Because, you know, football ends one day. So you kind of want something to fall back on. So those are the most important things.

Q: What put Kentucky on your radar?
Harris: At first, they kind of weren’t. But Coach Stoops – his first stop as a coach, he came to see me. He just told me, ‘Let me recruit you. Give me an opportunity to prove that we can turn things around – that we can change the program.’ So, I kind of took what he said into consideration. I took it from there, and here we are in this process.”

Q: You’re thinking of going back to UK tomorrow. Tell people what that signifies.
Harris: I wouldn’t necessarily say it signifies anything. They are close. They are in state. It’s about a 20-minute drive. It’s a great place to take a lot of visits. But they’re definitely doing something special up there. It’s great to witness that as it goes on.

Q: In your head, do you have an order of your top 5?
Harris: I’m pretty sure I have a good order in my head.

Q: Do you want to share that order?
Harris: We’ll have to wait and see on that. Just a little bit more time.

Q: For people that haven’t seen you play, what’s your style?
Harris: I like to be considered a pro-style running back. Run in between the tackles, but I can also try to stretch people outside on the perimeter. Nice, downhill back that can make you miss and beat you with some speed. I take pride in working on a lot of different things. … I just kind of work on all aspects of the game.”

Q: Who do you enjoy watching?
Harris: I like watching Marshawn Lynch play. He’s a great player. He’s a real physical runner, but he’s also light on his feet. He can make you miss. He’s just a great, complete back.

Harris is expected to be out of action for the next 3 to 4 games.

Madison Southern running back Damien Harris did not play in the Eagles’ nationally televised game against Pulaski County on Friday night.

Harris — the nation’s No. 1 running back — left last week’s loss to Southwestern with a leg injury and did not return in the second half. The ESPNU announce crew said Friday night that Harris is recovering from a sprained MCL and will be sidelined 3-4 weeks.

Pulaski County won the game, 35-0.

Earlier this week, Madison Southern Coach Jon Clark told the Herald-Leader not to expect Harris to play against Pulaski County, though he did not specify the senior standout’s injury.

“It’s a process,” Clark said. “It’s one of those deals where how long he’s going to be out depends on how he heals. We just have to wait and see, but he’s OK. He doesn’t need surgery or anything.”

Harris is UK’s top recruiting target in the class of 2015 and is expected to be at Commonwealth Stadium for Saturday’s game against Louisiana-Monroe. He has already attended three of UK’s four home games this season, including last week’s victory over South Carolina.

I was standing about five feet from him at the cat walk and he was wearing a why not us shirt, with a Big UK on it, and the way he embraced coach stoops, I think he's a lock.

There is some rumor that Ohio State has given up on Damien Harris. This could be good news for Kentucky!

Ga Cat, it's another good sign but will still have to wait until we get his name on the dotted line.
