And the Dems wanted another $650 B

American population: 330,483,530
Stimulus bill: $2,000,000,000,000
Dividing the cost by every person in America is $6,051.74.
The government could have given every person over $6,000, but instead will give $1,200 to each adult under a certain income.
Because bailouts. I am not surprised - I am disgusted.
Wanna know where the missing 96% of your tax dollars went?
$300,000,000 for Migrant and Refugee Assistance pg 147
$10,000 per person for student loan bailout
$100,000,000 to Nasa, because, who knows why.
$20,000,000,000 to the USPS, because why the hell not
$300,000,000 to the Endowment for the Arts / Unbelievable
$300,000,000 for the Endowment for the Humanities/ because no one even knew that was a thing
$15,000,000 for Veterans Employment Training / for when the GI Bill isn't enough
$435,000,000 for mental health support
$30,000,000,000 for the Department of Education stabilization fund/ because that will keep people employed
$200,000,000 to Safe Schools Emergency Response to Violence Program
$300,000,000 to Public Broadcasting / NPR has to be bought by the dems
$500,000,000 to Museums and Libraries / Who the hell knows how we are going to use it
$720,000,000 to Social Security Admin / but get this only 200,000,000 is to help people. The rest is for admin costs
$25,000,000 for Cleaning supplies for the Capitol Building / I **** you not it's on page 136
$7,500,000 to the Smithsonian for additional salaries
$35,000,000 to the JFK Center for performing Arts
$25,000,000 for additional salary for House of Representatives
$3,000,000,000 upgrade to the IT department at the VA
$315,000,000 for State Department Diplomatic Programs
$95,000,000 for the Agency of International Development
$300,000,000 for International Disaster Assistance
$90,000,000 for the Peace Corp pg 148
$13,000,000 to Howard University pg 121
9,000,000 Misc. Senate Expenses pg 134
$100,000,000 to Essential Air carriers pg 162 This of note because the Airlines are going to need billions in loans to keep them afloat. $100,000,000 is chump change
$40,000,000,000 goes to the Take Responsibility to Workers and Families Act This sounds like it's direct payments for workers. Pg 164
$1,000,000,000 Airlines Recycle and Save Program pg 163

$492,000,000 to National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) pg 167
$526,000,000 Grants to Amtrak to remain available if needed through 2021 pg 168 (what are the odds that doesn't go unused)
Hidden on page 174 the Secretary has 7 days to allocate the funds & notify Congress
$25,000,000,000 for Transit Infrastructure pg 169
$3,000,000 Maritime Administration pg 172
$5,000,000 Salaries and Expensive Office of the Inspector General pg 172

Like I said before the Democrat's say - never let a good crisis go to waste!

In addition, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are holding up a "one page" phase ii bill in order to "ADD" non stimulus to it. It is being held up as we speak! shameful

Nice to know how our elected officials spend our money under the guise of taking care of our fellow citizens in their time of need.

The democrats delayed this life saving bill to include the above listed bs items not connected with the "intent" of the bill itself.

Any American should be outraged !!

That is inexcusable. What waste! What PORK!

THIS is why the democrat party is so deplorable. In this time of FOCUSED crisis, they decide to fill the feeding trough for their constituents and favorite government agencies.

And they are doing it again. All with the support and cover of the "indignant class" -- our media.

Pelosi and her even more socialist colleagues should be held accountable for this. But, they will not. It will be, of course, Trump's fault.

Really? Wonder who wanted this in the bill?

A windfall for real estate investors allowing them “to use losses generated by real estate to minimize their taxes on profits from things like investments in the stock market. The estimated cost of the change over 10 years is $170 billion,”

This is all I needed to read !!!
WTH ??? Why do they always have to get money for people that aren't even citizens of our country ??? Take care of our citizen's. When someone becomes a citizen the right way then they get taken care of. I have friends that went through the process and said it was hard but well worth it and they are pissed with what the Dem's are doing now !!!

My opinion, which most agree is worthless. There is blame to go around. From what I’ve read, the Republicans tried to get a little pork in there also. Not NEAR as much, but some.

But forgetting that, they almost all approved it. Democrats, Republicans and the President. I know these are terribly difficult times but I did not like this from the get go.

Giving money to individuals and businesses that did not need it is ludicrous. There are small businesses and some corporations doing extremely well “because” of this pandemic. They simply do not need help. I have a friend who owns a small business and it is booming. I believe him and his wife are eligible for personal financial aid as well as for their business.

Again, I think there is plenty of blame to go around. Somebody besides Nancy needs to grow a set. Pretty sure she has a set of big ones as she sure as heck is not afraid to stand up for her ignorant and misguided beliefs.

I said from the get go that we (my wife and I) didn't need this handout. I am fully retired for 23 years now and my income remains steady. In fact, by being isolated at home, my expenses have dropped to nearly nothing. I haven't put gasoline in my car since March 30th and it is still nearly full! However, we got the handout. Our oldest daughter, a widow, has credit card debt. We are giving it to her to apply to that debt.

MM,

Not sure that the tax offset is really new. You can always write off business losses against capital gains, and capital losses offset income. That is just basic accounting. They are taxed at different rates, but losses offset gains.

Been that way forever. What changed?

The items listed in this thread are democratic ones. The republicans were ready to pass the bill as soon as it arrived to them Nancy P stayed in Ca to add these items and then flew to Wash to make sure they were implemented...The delays were totally on the democrats!

Then have the balls to not pass or approve it. Again, there’s enough blame to go around with this stimulus. The Democrats passed this abortion to get votes in an election year. The Republicans and the President passed and approved it to get votes in an election year. Just because there is more blame on the Democrats for what’s in it does not justify it’s present form. There were other options. Once again, politics on both side trying to appease their voter base. If this was not an election year I honestly believe this pandemic would have been handled differently by both parties.

Oh, and there was a small amount of concern for the American people.

"Then have the balls to not pass or approve it."

Handy u r right it became a political ball. However, the reps would have passed a clean bill a lot sooner, thus saving lives, if the dems had not added and worse delayed the bill while adding these additional items..
