Pretty Discouraging to say the least!!
Subject: From a Florida ER doctor
Today I had a 25-year old with 8 kids - that's right 8, all Illegal Anchor Babies and she had the nicest nails, cell phone, hand bag, clothing, etc. She makes about $1,500 monthly for each; you do the math. I used to say, "We are the dumbest nation on earth," Now I must say and sadly admit: WE are the dumbest people on earth (that includes ME) For we Elected the Idiot Ideologues who have passed the Bills that allow this.
Sorry, but we need a Revolution, If the Illegal Immigrant is over 65, they can apply for SSI and Medicaid and get more than a woman on Social Security, who worked from 1944 until 2004. She is only getting $791 per month because she was born in 1924 and there's a 'catch 22' (notch) for her. It is interesting that the Federal Government provides a single refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890. Each can also obtain an additional $580 in Social Assistance, for a total of $2,470 a month. This compares to a single pensioner, who after contributing to the growth and development of America for 40 to 50 years, can only receive a monthly maximum of $1,012 in Old Age Pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement.
Maybe our Pensioners should apply as Refugees! Consider sending this to all your American friends, so we can all be ticked off and maybe get the Refugees cut back to $1,012 and the Pensioners up to $2,470. Then we can enjoy some of the money we were forced to submit to the Government over the last 40 or 50 or 60 years.

They 'safety net' system has been broken from the beginning. Reform is badly needed for all of our entitlement programs, from Social Security through Medicare and Welfare. State programs like Medicaid need review as well.
If we are going to keep them, we need to (a) limit participation to eligible US Citizens who paid into it and (b) fund them fully and separately from the general fund that the government spends like a drunk sailor.
Having babies beyond 2 should net you NO extra benefits, and non-citizens should never get a dime from our government. Period.

For what it's worth, When I was in the military back in the early 60s, they did indeed add a little extra to my paycheck when we had a baby, and again when we had a second one. That was it. No more raises for feeding more than two little ones. It was tough, but By Golly, we made it. There were times that old Norm had to hold down two part time jobs to supplement our income, but I did it. We were eligible for food stamps and free school lunches, but Nope. They are my kids and I almost worked my fingers to the bone without ever accepting any sort of handout. All six of our children are quite proud of that fact.

I absolutely agree with that!
Norm, I was that way also. After getting out of the service I worked for the Corps of Engineers for a couple of years before returning to school on the GI bill. We were laid off in the winter and I refused to draw unemployment as I felt it was welfare. Looking back I guess that was kind of stupid.
I don't want anybody to go hungry in this country but I think they should do away with food stamps and their equivalent. It didn't do too much damage to me standing in line with my grandfather to pick up commodities. Not sure now that I think about it. Maybe it could explain me being slightly goofy.

Or heck just start another agency to monitor welfare and make sure that whomever gets anything free has to do community service! Won't happen just thinking out loud.
Work for your money now that
is a novel idea!
I remember when I was a kid in Paris Ky being with my mother at A&P watching her get the fake ice cream whereas another mother scabby dressed and with two kids dirty unkempt getting real ice cream and steaks for her self and paying with big coupons. I asked my mother how could she get her stuff and we with chicken etc and she replied that she had "food stamps. We were poor but she wouldn't take any handouts! God bless her..

MM, I won't dispute the article is outdated and seriously flawed. That doesn't change the fact that there are way too many people in this country living off the government teat, including illegal aliens.
