What's going on with all the interim security clearances in the WH?

Don't know "how many" but all security clearances are conducted by the FBI either active members or retired agents. ALL WH staffers must be able to obtain an TOP SECRET clearance which requires going back to birth and interviewing people who knew them then and thru out their time before the WH. I Imagine only a few of them had SC's based on similar jobs.
Even a TS clearance regularly requires 5 yr updates for everyone.
New Administrations traditionally take a long time due to the seer volume of new and never worked for govt employees.
Trump of course gets the main stream media attention unlike others s i.e. Obama plus it appears the FBI has a grudge against him and perhaps may not be moving as fast as they should.
Don't forget there are 100's and 100's of other Trump employees nominated for senior jobs that have not been confirmed yet.

As many times as we've seen the FBI drop the ball recently, it's a wonder anyone gets a clearance!
I've lost ALOT of faith in FBI recently!

Do't think so.....FBI conducts background checks..WH makes final decision on clearances.

wrong mm the wh will implement sec clearances once backgrounds and interviews are conducted by the responsible agency - the fbi...
no one can "give" a security clearance without the fbi's approval.
The other thing an agency can do is submit names of people who will be dealing with classified information to the fbi for their further investigation...

I know...I just said that.

This is a quote from an article I found on line...I tried 4 times to get the link to post but no go....I'll try again later.
That's different from some other federal agencies, where the FBI's background investigation automatically means thumbs-up or thumbs-down. At the White House and the federal courts, the final call isn't made by the bureau. "It’s ultimately their determination at the White House whether they want to grant a permanent clearance," said former FBI assistant director Ron Hosko.

He;s pulling ur strings. Without an FBI investigation there is no clearance that any agency can give.
He may be referring to an "interim clearance" which can be temporary given by an agency based on "need to know" and pending a complete investigation.
MM you said " I know..I just said that"
I guess you just want to start a discussion or an argument? [ 02-17-2018, 04:55 PM: Message edited by: ukcatfannfl ]

Ok, whatever. Either you are missing my point or I'm missing yours.

Ed, again, the FBI are trying to cover their butts. I know you worked in the diplomatic service and dealt with security clearances on a regular basis. I do not think the way they operate had changed since our days of dealing with security clearances.
