Kentucky left-handed pitcher James Paxton has opted to return to UK for his senior season, it was announced Tuesday.
Paxton, a native of Ladner, British Columbia, was a supplemental first round draft pick in the 2009 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Paxton finished the 2009 season ranked third in the NCAA in strikeouts per nine innings, fanning 13.2 hitters per nine innings pitched. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder, struck out 115 in 78.1 innings last season.
