Today is the NBA Trade Deadline, and with so many former Kentucky Wildcats in the league, it wouldn’t be surprising to see one or two former Cats on the move.
At least one former Cat is the subject of some heavy speculation and trade rumors.
Trey Lyles is looking for a new home, and it seems the San Antonio Spurs might be willing to move the 25-year-old forward, according to Bleacher Report.
Multiple league sources mentioned Trey Lyles and his representatives are interested in a new destination for the 25-year-old forward and that the Spurs are also open to moving Rudy Gay in the final year of his contract. - Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer
The Spurs could be sellers at the deadline, as LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan are rumored to be available for a trade, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Lyles is included in a deal with one of those players.
Lyles is averaging career-lows in points (5.0) and minutes (15.7) per game. He’s only made 22 appearances for the Spurs this season.
As for other former Cats, Eric Bledsoe has been linked to the New York Knicks and Tyrese Maxey has garnered some discussion as a possible asset in a trade for Kyle Lowry. Undoubtedly some other former Cats will hear their names be mentioned in possible deals as the deadline draws closer.
