A report by Paul Coro in the Arizona Republic says the Phoenix Suns will sign Ulis to a contract that will look much like that of a late first-round pick. The report said Ulis will receive about $1 million a year for two years, with both years guaranteed.

Ulis was selected by Phoenix with the 34th pick in the June 23 draft — the fourth pick of the second round.

He joins a Suns roster that already includes four guards who played at the University of Kentucky — Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, Archie Goodwin and Brandon Knight.

As a sophomore at Kentucky, Ulis was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

From all reports that I have read, Ukis is tearing up the summer league. Kinda crazy that the pro scouts doubted him, when he played against top D1 talent for 2 years.

I have watched a few of his games. He looks just as in control and comfortable as he did at Kentucky. His size has not bothered him a bit, and actually seems to be an advantage. He is no problem putting a defender on his hip and taking him to the paint and scoring through the contact. As always, he sees the floor well and always makes the correct decision. He is a remarkable point guard. Unfortunate that Phoenix is loaded with guards, so his playing time will be limited at first.

Here are the guards, both point and off guards that are guards from Kentucky on the Suns roster.

Bledsoe-Booker-Goodwin-Knight-and now Ulis.

Just goes to show what a great recruiter Cal really is.
