Hope it doesn't keep him out of to many games for the packers.

Receiver Randall Cobb left the Packers' preseason game Saturday night against the Philadelphia Eagles with a shoulder injury.

Cobb appeared to be favoring his right arm after landing on the arm as he was trying to catch a pass on the sideline from rookie Brett Hundley on Green Bay's first offensive drive.

Cobb signed a four-year, $40 million contract in the offseason that kept the receiver off the open market. He was expected to be the Packers' top wideout with Nelson gone.

It sounds like good news on Cobb's injury.

Cobb left with a shoulder injury Saturday after landing hard on his right side while trying to catch a pass near the sideline on the first series for the Packers (1-2), who lost to Philadelphia. Cobb said a defender landed on top of him.

He is the second starting wideout to get hurt for the Packers in preseason action. Jordy Nelson was lost for the season with a right knee injury last Sunday against Pittsburgh.

But it doesn't appear that Packers coach Mike McCarthy is nearly as worried about Cobb as he was when Nelson tore his ACL.

"We thought it could've been collarbone or something; it's not. So, fortunately enough, there's a silver lining in it," Cobb said.

More tests are planned, but Cobb said he didn't think this was a serious injury. The Packers would be in deep trouble if they lost Cobb for any length of time.

It is good to hear that he is going to be back and hopeful by game 1.

I knew he was a special player, but am surprised by the numbers that he has put up in the NFL. He is not very tall for a receiver, but he has the heart of a champion.

Cobb is working real hard to get into good condition so he is ready to play in the first game.

Randall Cobb hopes to be back for the season opener on Sept. 13 against the Chicago Bears after spraining his shoulder in a preseason game last week against Philadelphia.

"I don't plan on missing a game. I'm going to do everything I can to get back," he said Tuesday.

Cobb, a five-year veteran, fell hard on his right side and had another player land on him while trying to make a catch on Green Bay's first drive Saturday against Philadelphia.
