Davis is turning out to be as good or better than anyone in the NBA. It's amazing how many Cats are so well in the NBA.
The USA advanced to the semifinals of the 2014 FIBA World Cup on Tuesday with a 119-76 quarterfinal victory over Slovenia at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.
The USA (7-0) will face Lithuania (6-1) in a semifinal matchup on Thursday, Sept. 11 (3 p.m. ET, ESPN). Lithuania defeated Turkey, 73-61, earlier Tuesday.
The USA got off to a slow start Tuesday and Slovenia managed to stay within reach – trailing by seven after the first quarter (29-22) and also at halftime (49-42). A strong third quarter in which the USA outscored Slovenia 37-22 gave the team some breathing room. James Harden, who was held scoreless in the first half, netted 12 points in the third quarter. Overall, the USA outscored Slovenia 70-34 in the second half.
All 12 players scores for the USA. Six players scored in double figures for the USA, including Kyrie Irving, Harden, Kenneth Faried and Anthony Davis. Coming off the bench, Klay Thompson led all scorers with 20. Davis had 13 points, a team-best 11 rebounds and three blocks. DeMarcus Cousins had nine points, five rebounds, three steals and one block.
