It would be great to have 4 Kentucky players on the 2016 team.

Kentucky coach John Calipari admitted he was “disappointed” that former UK star John Wall was cut from the USA National team.

“I thought he played well the games I watched, but again it was a numbers game,” Calipari said.

However, he was happy that former Cats DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis did make the 16-player cut along with Derrick Rose, who played for him at Memphis.

“I tried to tell DeMarcus this, and even John: The team to make is in ’16 (Olympics). Sixteen. Those two are in their prime. You’re going to be talking about, hopefully, both of them two-year All-Stars now,” Calipari said Wednesday. “Totally different, totally different approach. The ’16 team is the team.

“It’s nice that they went out and practiced and tried out. Hey, great pickup games – unbelievable pickup games for those guys for those two weeks. But the reality of it is, that ’16 team is the one you want to be playing on and striving for that. I thought they handled themselves with class.
