Day by day we start to find out that some of our top draft choices may be sliding down the selection chart due to their short comings as I predicted.
Dillingham who was predicted to go to San Antonio is not looking so good to SA like he was before. His size and defensive downsize is causing them to have second thoughts. They need a tall guard who can play defense. These are the parts of Robs game that are lacking. They may trade down in the draft to pick up an established tall guard who has a good defense.
This causes other draftees who play different positions to jump over Rob. Talk is cheap when you are not at the draft table but when the time comes to make a final decision they will have their mouth where hteir money is.
Everyone is still sure Shephard will go third but I am still waiting for the final word while the top two picks are not so guaranteed since UConn's big guy is now trying to jump into the top two spots which could slide Reed down a little more.

Well today I see that the draft has another change. The big guy from UConn has now risen to #2 which means #2 has now fallen to #3 and Reed is now #4. And our other guard has now dropped into #10, due mainly to his height and his defense. We're almost to the draft day so maybe no more drops will take place before the final day.

You may be correct, but it is a matter of degree, not of win/lose. Here are the first-year and second-year salaries for rookies by draft position in 2024:
1 $10,133,900 $10,640,800 2 $9,067,000 $9,520,500 3 $8,142,400 $8,549,300 4 $7,341,100 $7,708,300 5 $6,647,900 $6,980,000 6 $6,037,900 $6,339,800 7 $5,511,900 $5,787,700 8 $5,049,600 $5,302,100 9 $4,641,600 $4,873,900 10 $4,409,500 $4,629,900
Honestly, what difference does it make? Even the 30th draft position gets over $2M per year. [ 06-18-2024, 01:52 PM: Message edited by: Tiptree ]

None of those predictions matter. The NBA draft rarely goes as predicted.

That is so true and a year like this one no telling who will be #1. It all depends on who needs what position and if they feel there is someone who can fill that position...... or should they trade the position away for an established player at that position. And of course the number of foreign players seems to get bigger each year.
Of course they are all going to get millions but when you have big money you won't be satisfied because you want more money. I've never experienced that myself.
