Tough season. My heart needs a few months to recover. Stress hits harder these days.

It hurts no doubt about it but we just didn't have the talent needed to go any further.

We had the talent to win that game, but for some reason it just didn’t show up. Reeves couldn’t buy one and he missed shots that he’s been making. And don’t get me started about why we didn’t go to the zone way early in the game to stop the driving of their little guard.

Next year we might just possibly have the talent to compensate for the lack of good coaching and take us all the way back to the Sweet 16 or elite 8.
That's what I have been reduced to hoping for now.

Times running out for me to see #9. I'm not getting any younger and the pressure of these games may send me to never, never land.

How many times have we had the #1 or #2 recruiting class under Calipari? Yet every season seems to end with a disappointing loss to a team we probably should have beaten. There's a lot of talk about next year's class. I've drank the Kool-aid too many times. Great classes have come and gone - the only constant is Cal. I just don't think I can get my hopes up any longer.

Paulcat, notice I said sweet 16. With Cal that's what I have been reduced to hoping for, despite the talent we may have. Just a sad state to be in.

I did notice that, Ukman. I think it just slipped my mind as I was typing.

Is Cal really that great a recruiter? We have all seemed to drink the kool-aid on that one too. I think he gets too perked up with the hype over some of these kids. They get here and we know what happens. Excuses, excuses, excuses. Maybe he just isn't recruiting the ones who will produce in college. The fact is he's only done it one time. RatFace beat his ass several times by getting the real 5 star kids. Maybe we'd be better off with Tubby's kind of roster. 1 five star and severl pretty good high school players.

Bama, his problem was he didn't seem to know how to piece a team together. (Well, there's many more but that's the one I'll focus on here)
He just went for the top athletes and that doesn't always work when you are putting a team together. He needs to take a lesson from Jay Wright on how to build and put teams together. He never had the top guys but won 2 championships in Cals time, and always had really good teams.

That was the basic point of my post Bama. Games used to bring me great joy, now they have me on the brink of flat lining.
