OK, now we can say Kentucky’s backcourt is complete.
Following Davion Mintz’s decision to put his name in the NBA Draft and return to Kentucky, the 2021-22 backcourt was unofficially finalized. But technically, Georgia guard transfer and UK signee Sahvir Wheeler has also been testing the draft waters and needed to withdraw by the final July 7 deadline to make his transition to Lexington official.
That withdrawal came today, with Stadium’s Jeff Goodman reporting that the 5-foot-10 point guard has pulled his name out of the draft and will return to college.
With Wheeler’s withdrawal now official, Kentucky’s backcourt featuring the likes of Mintz, TyTy Washington, Kellan Grady, CJ Fredrick and Dontaie Allen is now complete, giving the Wildcats a solid mix of passing, shooting, scoring and defense.
