Davion Mintz put an exclamation point next to his name for MVP of this season as the Kentucky Wildcats pummeled South Carolina 92-64.
The fifth-year senior finished this afternoon with 20 points on 7/13 shooting (6/11 from deep), seven assists, and five rebounds. Coming off the Ole Miss game where he recorded eight assists, it is obvious who John Calipari is going to turn to at point for the rest of this season.
In the last two games of being the primary point guard, Mintz has recorded 15 assists to only three turnovers. He is showing he can be effective in getting his teammates the ball in good situations to score, as well as proving he can still go and get his, scoring 30 points in the last two games combined also.
Today is just another reason to add to the list of why Davion Mintz is the most important recruit this offseason. Plug him in as the primary ball handler all season, and this team could be in a completely situation then they are now.

I agree 100%. Mintz needs to be our starting point guard. 👍

He needs that extra degree so I hope he realizes his future is in getting that degree before he leaves.

So if you do something that HAS been done before, it is still considered "history"?

And just stop to realize that Mintz was not even in the starting opening day lineup. I don't believe he was even getting 20 minutes back then. All Cal was interested in doing was to publicize his 5 star recruits. I am starting to see why Fletcher went off early on. He was getting no playing time when the five stars were playing like 2 or 3 stars. Cal's favoritism has caused us much grief this season and it the end HE is the one paying dearly for it. It's all on his record. And one of his bad mistakes was Clarke. He did it last year with Kahlil Whitney but he awoke from that trance to correct his mistake. This year him and Clarke are the only ones who know what lurks under an ankle strain. His mistake is he thinks all of BBN believes the crap he slings. It serves no real purpose to try to hide things when you are in the spotlight 24-7. What really happens is the kid thinks he can skate right into a million dollar contract without proving himself. We shall see if Cal even needs to show up in the green room for the NBA draft. Who knows, maybe another BAD record may be set along with all the bad records that have accumulatede this season.
