We now know who the mystery team is John Calipari hinted that Kentucky could play this week had they beaten Florida over the weekend.
With a win over the Gators, Kentucky could have been close enough to the NCAA Tournament bubble that a big win over a non-conference team could propel them into the conversation for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
However, that scenario required Kentucky winning out, which they failed to do by losing 71-67 to the Gators at home. That loss pretty much killed any hope of Calipari finding a non-conference foe to add to the schedule this week.
As it turns out, No. 1 Gonzaga was the team in question, Calipari revealed Wednesday during his call-in show.
“The game that I tried to get and we almost got done was Gonzaga,” Calipari revealed, adding that his players were “ecstatic” at the thought of playing the No. 1 team in America.

That's called bypassing the system. He is impressing me less and less. You play such a lousy game of basketball this season and think if you can get Gonzaga on the hardwood and beat them you can get an automatic bye into the tourney. Ha, HA!

I don't understand why people are still writing articles about UK getting an at-large bid. We could've beat Gonzaga by 30 and still we weren't getting an at-large. But the worst part is the delusion that we could beat Gonzaga.
