It’s starting to click for Brandon Boston.
The talented freshman has had a very up and down season as everyone knows. Fans, media, coaches, everyone has been in his ear saying in some form he needed to be better for this team to take the next step offensively.
Well, it’s with great pleasure we can say that it’s finally starting to take shape.
Kyle Tucker, of The Athletic, tweeted this stat Saturday afternoon regarding the uptick in production we have seen from Boston, who just led the Cats to an 82-80 win over Auburn.
Boston is starting to settle in. In his last four games he is shooting 11/18 from three for a stellar 61%. Cutting down on the mid-range jumpers has allowed the game to come to him more than trying to force it. You just watch him play and you see a whole different level of comfort from earlier this season on offense.
It’s even starting to show on the defensive side of the floor as well. He had three early steals Saturday, and he also helped lock down Sharife Cooper on several possessions as well.
We shouldn’t expect this to be the last big game we see from Boston either. With his shooting numbers going up teams will have to start chasing him off the three point line, which should lead to some open drives to the rim.
Use his length and finish strong, we should see a few high more high scoring games from the freshman. Play him alongside Allen and that should open up the offense to another level we haven’t seen this season.
Watching the game Saturday, you could tell how much easier it looked for him. His confidence is the highest it has been this season. I can’t imagine it has been an easy ride this season, but just like the rest of the team he hasn’t quit fighting.
