The Cats held a 10-point lead over the Vols with 11 minutes to play, but from that point on, had another collapse that we have become accustomed to.
A dunk by BJ Boston made it 58-48, and from that moment, the Vols outscored Kentucky 34-13 to get a double-digit victory.
Once again, the Cats were without Terrence Clarke, who is still out with an ankle injury that he suffered earlier this season.
Earlier last week, John Calipari expressed hope that Clarke would be able to play against Tennessee, but he ultimately wasn’t able to.
Kentucky currently sits with a 5-12 record on the year, and the only possible way they can make the NCAA Tournament is by going to Nashville and winning the SEC Tournament.
However, it is clear that this team is not going to be able to do that unless they get Clarke back on the court and playing at a high level.
Clarke was recruited to be one of the top players on this team behind only Boston, who was ranked higher coming into the season.
If this team is ever going to figure it out, it will have to be with Clarke on the floor ,who was averaging 10.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists before getting injured.
Hopefully, Clarke is able to return to the floor soon, and this UK team is able to get some momentum heading into the postseason.

Post season is a pipe dream. We could possibly win one SEC tournament game, but anything past that would shock me. I'll still take what I can get. I needed a "sports fix" so much, that I actually watched the Super Bowl last night. Being so old, I had to root for the "old man" on the field!
