Sixteen games into the season, Kentucky has still yet to play a game at full strength.
After getting sophomore forward Keion Brooks back after nine games, the Wildcats have now been without starting guard Terrence Clarke for its last nine games due to a foot injury.
Following UK's 75-70 loss at Missouri in Columbia Wednesday night, head coach John Calipari left the door open for Clarke to return Saturday vs. Tennessee but in doing so, appeared to question Clarke's toughness.
"It's been five weeks. If he can practice without limping (Thursday) and Friday, we may play him Saturday," Calipari said. "If he’s limping, I don’t see how he’s going to play. After five weeks, you’re still limping? And there’s nothing wrong, there’s no, MRI — there’s nothing there. But players know their pain and what their pain threshold is, so if he’s limping around, I’m not going to play him. It comes to a point where you’re out five, six weeks, it means you’re just not capable. The pain is too much for you to play at all."
Calipari then took to Twitter to clarify his comments regarding Clarke, who hasn't seen the court since playing 16 scoreless minutes off the bench, going 0 for 4 with a turnover in a 62-59 loss at Louisville on Dec. 29.
"After listening to my postgame comments about Terrence Clarke, my comments were clear to me, but I understand they could be taken many different ways," Calipari tweeted. "Terrence Clarke has been in pain. I have never asked a player to play that is injured and I never will. We are just trying to figure out — with the approval of our medical staff — can he play through this or not. And he might not be able to, and that’s OK! Terrence Clarke will try to practice tomorrow and Friday and if he does well, he will play Saturday. Believe me, I hope he does well and can play. I know Terrence wants to play! He and I have had conversations about it since he’s been out. I support Terrence no matter what!"

I am tired of these mystery leg injuries we seem to get each year. It would be better if they would say what the injury was. My guess is Clarke doesn't want to see his draft stock fall any more. If he doesn't play they'll draft him based on his HS play and "upside." If it's been 5 weeks it better be something broke or torn.

I would have to say that UK basketball has reached the point of becoming a farce. I hope everyone understands the meaning of the word FARCE. This is not a team. I'm starting to believe there is a problem between some of the members on the team, such as Askew and Allen. Hotdog vs shooter.

Bama Cat, have you noticed like I have that Askew rarely will even look at Allen when they’re both on the court? I may be completely wrong here, but it seems that Askew is reluctant to pass the ball to Allen.
