LSU enters this evening’s game with a 10-3 record, 5-2 in the SEC. The Tigers are coming off of 105-75 beat down at the hands of Alabama where the Crimson Tide made 23 3-pointers. Their other SEC loss came at Florida back on January 2nd.

While dodging NCAA violations Head Coach Will Wade has not only kept his job, but has also continued to put a great basketball team out on the court. Trendon Watford, Javonte Smart, and Darius Days all tested the NBA Draft waters but ultimately decided to return to Baton Rouge giving Coach Wade one of the best returning trios in the country.

On top of bringing back three extremely talented, experienced players, LSU added a 5-star Guard in Cameron Thomas. Thomas has exceeded even the highest expectations and currently leads the Southeastern Conference in scoring at 22 points per game. Thomas, Watford, Smart, and Days combine to score 80% of LSU’s points as no other player averages over five points per game.

Despite just being middle of the road in terms of pace, LSU is 10th in the country in scoring at 85.2 points per game. They score their points by being extremely efficient. Unlike Kentucky’s last three opponents who played extremely fast, the Tigers will be much more deliberate offensively. LSU is shooting just over 48% from the field which is the 40th best mark nationally. Where their efficiency really skyrockets though is at the free throw line. As a team, the Tigers 241/316 (76.3%) from the charity stripe. Their 316 free throw attempts ranks 26th in the country while the 241 made free throws ranks 12th nationally. A big part of LSU’s offense is getting to the free throw line.

For Kentucky to have a chance to win tonight they will need to make LSU a much less efficient version of themselves for 40 minutes. The best way of accomplishing that is to keep them off of the foul line and not let Trendon Watford dominate in mid-post isolations.
