The Auburn Tigers enter this afternoon’s game with a record of 7-6, 1-4 in the Southeastern Conference. Coach Bruce Pearl’s squad got off to a rough start in SEC play but has played several close games. Despite losing nearly all of their scoring from a year ago, Coach Pearl has reloaded the roster with a 5-star Point Guard and a talented Top 50 big man to round out a roster that still packs an offensive punch.
The Tigers have looked like a totally different team over the last two games thanks to Sharife Cooper gaining his eligibility and entering the lineup. The 19th ranked player in the Class of 2020, Cooper has made an immediate impact on the court for Auburn. He opened up his college career against SEC leading Alabama and scored a team-high 26 points to go with 9 assists as Auburn pushed the Crimson Tide down the wire before losing 94-90. Cooper followed that performance up with a 28 point, 12 assist stat line in a win over Georgia. Quite simply, this is a different team with Cooper in the lineup.
Auburn always plays fast, but they have taken that to a whole different level with Cooper at Point Guard. The Tigers were averaging a little under 75 possessions per game through their first 11 games and have increased that number to over 84 possessions with Sharife Cooper. That would be the second fastest pace in the country. Additionally, they were averaging 74 points per game pre-Cooper and have scored 90 and 95 points in the two games with him running the show. Auburn is also 25th nationally in 3-pointers made per game at 9.7 and 11th in blocks per game with 5.6.

Looks like we will have a real up-and-down-the-court game tonight, which I think would play well to our team's strengths (which is NOT half-court basketball).
Man, I wish we had a point guard like that guy they have. Sure would make a world of differnce.
