Just one day removed from one of the worst performances of his tenure at Kentucky — John Calipari took to Twitter to let the Big Blue Nation know that he has a plan to get things on track.

It’s not uncommon for Calipari to send out a similar message following a tough loss. But the Cats are way beyond just one tough loss.

They’ve dropped three straight and are in real danger of making it four in a row when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish travel to Lexington on Saturday.

I think most Kentucky fans would acknowledge that things just feel different so far in this young season.

Sure — Calipari’s Kentucky teams always struggle early — we know this.

But do they get ran off the floor against an 0-2 Georgia Tech team who lost to Georgia State and Mercer?

No, that’s new.

Calipari’s two points of emphasis are great places to start. This team has already proven that they lack both the mental and physical toughness to win games. Even against Richmond and Kansas when UK was doing some positive things they didn’t have the fortitude to finish it out.

Then you aren’t beating anyone when you throw the ball to the wrong team every other possession. The Cats have committed 58 turnovers in their last three games. Their assist-to-turnover ratio is abysmal and the search for a consistent option at point guard.

Poor guard play in general is evident and needs to get corrected quickly if Kentucky has any aspirations of making this season a memorable one. It’s hard to remember a time where a Calipari coached team looked this out of sorts through four games.

However, Camp Calipari has fixed a variety of deficiencies over the years for several teams so hopefully similar results can follow.

To look on the bright side — things can’t get much worse.

Kentucky takes on Notre Dame on Saturday at noon.

Uhhh. I agree with that. What if someone or two decide they made the wrong decision and decide to transfer in the next several weeks??
