The start of the college basketball season is just over two months away, and so far we have received mostly good news about Kentucky’s schedule. Adam Zagoria reports that Notre Dame remains on Kentucky’s schedule as one of the Wildcats’ best nonconference challenges.
Kentucky is set to take on the Fighting Irish on December 12th in Rupp Arena in the first game of a three-game agreement. In 2021, the two teams will meet at a neutral site. And in 2022, Notre Dame will host the Wildcats.
Elsewhere, KSR reports that the Holiday Hoopsgiving, slated to feature Kentucky vs. Georgia Tech on November 27th, will now likely take place at a later date. The reason being is Kentucky wants to host a basketball pod Thanksgiving week, which would include matchups with Brad Calipari’s Detroit Mercy, as well as a preseason top-25 Richmond Spiders squad.
While college basketball is still slated to happen, the schedule and procedures are still up in the air. Some speculate that games will be held in various bubbles around the country. Many want the schedule to stay as-is to return to some kind of normal.
The truth is that we have no idea what the season will look like. But hearing confirmations like this one should help us maintain optimism that we will actually see college basketball this winter.
