After rumblings earlier this month that the Holiday Hoopsgiving event would turn to a Bubble-based format–similar to what the NBA and WNBA are successfully pulling off in Florida–those reports have been confirmed to be true. 10 teams have been confirmed to participate, with the previously scheduled Kentucky-Georgia Tech game as one of the anticipated matchups.
The event will take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA with the Wildcats and Yellow Jackets planning for a Nov. 27 tipoff. According to the Holiday Hoopsgiving Twitter account, they will look to add more teams for games scheduled sometime between Dec. 10 and Dec. 17. Kentucky is already confirmed to play in the Champions Classic, which is moving to Orlando where the NBA’s Bubble is currently being played.
The other schools already confirmed to be in attendance, along with their corresponding matchups, are Clemson vs. Alabama, LSU vs. South Florida, Mississippi State vs. Dayton, and Memphis vs. Auburn. ESPN‘s Jeff Borzello previously reported that he expects teams to play “multiple games” at this event, which could mean that UK might wind up playing a team like Memphis (yes please) or Dayton (sure, why not?).
