They sure didn't look ready to play in the second half. they were a completely different team. Barnes had his team ready to compete and our Cats looked lost.
Kentucky head coach John Calipari wasn't happy with the Wildcats' physical play after blowing a 17-point lead in the second half of an 81-73 loss to Tennessee on Tuesday night.
"We got manhandled. I got manhandled," Calipari told reporters. "This is one that I know I gotta watch the tape."
The unranked Volunteers outscored the No. 6 Wildcats 50-31 in the second half, won the rebounding battle 31-26 and shot 57.1 percent (20 of 35) on shots from inside the arc.
"The game got physical, and we couldn't compete," Calipari said. "It just got physical. We tried different ways to score, and we just had nothing. We couldn't throw it to the post; we tried to open up the court and couldn't get by people. But give credit to Tennessee; they could've gone away down 17, but that's [Volunteers coach] Rick Barnes."

UT made shots and UK couldn’t even get shots the second half. Cal has molded this team into a guard-oriented team based purely on driving the ball into double-triple teams without a clue of what’s gonna happen. When other teams are packing the lane on defense, there’s gotta be inside-out ball movement to get clean perimeter looks. Another problem is that our Forwards (outside Sestina) can’t hit jump shots or threes. I think this stems from having Freshmen who didn’t need to take these shots in HS because they could just overpower/outathlete their way to the rim.

ALA_KAT2, Good point. It's hard to believe our 3pt shooting percentage was almost dead on to the Vols.

blue hoot, our 3pt. percentage was good at 6/13, but at crunch time we couldn’t get a look. Our offense got so stagnant we couldn’t get a decent shot anywhere in the last 10 minutes. Sestina didn’t see the court in the last 8 min, IIRC. When the other team is packing it in, we need shooters on the floor. Of course, the offense has to create lanes to get them open. Unfortunately, Cal either cannot get through to his guards or they are not executing the plays.
