Field Goal Percentage: 46.1% – Worst of the Calipari Era
Hardly surprising given this team’s shooting woes early on and the guards’ issues finishing at the rim. This group has the second worst three-point percentage as well (32.7%), ranking behind the 2013-14 team (32.2%), which, ironically, will be remembered for Aaron Harrison’s clutch threes. Opponent Field Goal Percentage: 38.7% – Fourth best of the Calipari Era
Calipari’s best teams are known for their defense, and this group ranks right up there in terms of opponent field-goal percentage. The 2019-20 Cats are holding their foes to 38.7% shooting from the floor, which is fourth in the Cal Era behind the 2014-15 team (duh), the 2011-12 National Champions and the 2009-10 John Wall squad and basically on par with the 2010-11 team that went to the Final Four. Pretty good company. Free Throw Percentage: 79.1% – Best of the Calipari Era
…and it’s not even close. Last year’s team is second with 74.7%, followed by the 2011-12 National Champs at 71.8%. Shoutout to Immanuel Quickley (91.5%), but the Cats actually have five other players averaging above 75% from the charity stripe: Johnny Juzang, Tyrese Maxey, Ashton Hagans, Nate Sestina, and Nick Richards. Rebounds Per Game: 37.4 – Fewest of the Calipari Era
Nick Richards is averaging 8.0 rebounds per game, followed by EJ Montgomery with 5.3. As much progress as this team has made inside, rebounding is still a weakness, especially on the offensive glass.
