Should be some players banned for the season and some for games !!! Self is a slime ball and Kansas is a dumpster fire... he should be fired … total lack of control !!!

Looks like jail time is in the future of some of those thugs.

I taped and watched the Illini/Purdue game after the UK game. One of the Illinois players stomped on the chest of a Purdue player and was immediately ejected. That brought back memories, except the ejection part. Illinois coach said at the half time interview there was no place for that in College basketball. I suspect he will be suspended for a game or two by Underwood. It was handled by all involved like it should have been with Duke/ Lantener years ago.
I hope some of those involved in the brawl last night get their just due. I’m not so sure that Self will brush this aside and try to protect his players. I like Self and think he is a man of integrity. We’ll see.

handy have you seen the videos of Midnight Madness at Kansas this year ??? Have you seen the video of him walking around with a pimp style bling bling neck chain around his neck ??? Midnight Madness had Snoop Dog and a couple of pole dancers and had Snoop shooting fake money from a money gun !!! They are also under investigation for paying players !!! The main player that was involved last night had to sit a year for taking money and has been nothing but trouble since he got to Kansas from what I have heard and read. Not so sure about Self being a man of high standards and integrity lately.

Mel, as i’m sure you are aware of, Self was the Illinois coach for a period of time. I live about 30 miles from the Illini campus. I bleed blue but consider Illinois my second team and follow and watch them very closely along with a couple of other teams. Kansas is certainly not one of them
While at Illinois, Self was a gentleman both on and off the court. He helped a lot of local charities and was active in the community in a variety of ways. I make no claim of having a personal relationship with him but the only negative I ever heard about him was that he left Illinois for Kansas.
I’m no fan of Kansas, but based on very limited personal knowledge of Bill Self, I will consider him a man of integrity until proven otherwise. The handling of this fiasco may change my mind.

Just heard that Bill Self has suspended a couple of reserves for a half game without pay. Don’t tell me Bill does not have integrity! [ 01-22-2020, 03:41 PM: Message edited by: handycat ]

I have no problem at all with Bill Self. I think he's a good guy and a very good coach. Now will he ever be guilty of some infractions? Well, nobody's perfect. But then again, i'm one of those people who think Pitino knew nothing about the payment to the Bowen family. I guess i'm just an optimist.

PC … fair enough. What do you think about him bringing in Snoop Dog and 2 pole dancers to midnight madness and Snoop shooting play money out of a money gun ??? Also his video of him wearing bling looking like a thug rapper

I doubt that Bill Self just woke up one morning and said, "Hey, I think Snoop Dogg would be a good entertainer to have at Midnight Madness." There's probably a lot of people to blame for that fiasco.
As for the video, he definitely could've said no to that. But that was harmless. Heck, i think half of the Cats look like thugs with their haircuts, but that's just the way things are today in this hiphop society.

Those Kansas players got off easily. As serious it was Tuesday night, every single one of them will be back in time for the Big 12 & NCAA Tournaments. Just a disgrace!

PC … you don't think Self had the power to stop Snoop Dog from being at Midnight Madness ??? Yeah right, Like Roy Williams, Calipari and Coach k wouldn't be able to stop that crap !!! I think he did it to piss of the ncaa for investigating him and his program !!! Spitting in their eye with a money gun and pole dancers !!! If I was a parent I wouldn't let my kid go to school there, but that is just MHO !!! blue hoot .. I don't understand why every player and asst coach that came off the bench wasn't suspended at least one game per the ncaa rules the way I understand them !!!

Mel, i'm sure Self could've stopped it, but i'm just saying it's possible that Self didn't have a clue about him. I've never heard a Snoop song or seen any type of performance of his. The only thing I know about him is what i see on TV commercials and TV shows. If they had announced he was going to be at UK Midnight Madness, I wouldn't have any red flags. I would just assume he would sing some songs.
And Mel, you make a good point about those leaving the bench. Isn't that an automatic one-game suspension? It seems like those in charge aren't even looking at that.
The more i see of the brawl, the more I think De Sousa (whatever his name is) should be expelled from college. I bet if a random 2.0 student started punching other students in Accounting 101, he'd be expelled. Why should the athlete be any different? [ 01-24-2020, 07:25 AM: Message edited by: PaulCat ]

Ok PC … understand where you are coming from (just thought everyone knew Snoop Dog and his weed smokin cronies, IMHO he is as sorry as they come). I totally don't understand how everyone that left the benches but the head coaches haven't been suspended !!! Why have a rule if you don't enforce it ???

I will direct this primarily at Mel. I’ve done a little reading about some of the issues at Kansa since Bill Self’s tenure began. Let me say first, their version of midnight madness does not bother me. However, there are several other things, with out going into specifics that bother me a lot. Primarily the details of their on going investigation and other things.
I just saw an interview with Self on ESPN. I did not like his version one little bit. While saying he would not make excuses for his players, his actions and following words said otherwise.
My statement of Self being a man of integrity may have been wrong.
This may very well be the second mistake i’ve Made in my life. [ 01-25-2020, 11:53 AM: Message edited by: handycat ]

M&M, happened in 1967 and I’m still not completely over it. It gets a little better each decade so I’ll probably never get over it.
