They are going to have to play better on the offensive end of the court. Last two games have been ugly. Especially the second half of each game

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

Honestly, someone besides Herro and Washington are going to have to step up in scoring if we expect to advance after Sunday!

We'll have to guard the arc like we did against Wofford!

Our offensive system is something that has held us back for the last several years in my opinion. It is filled of just attack 1 on 1, and there is not enough purposeful movement of the ball, or people. I have always wished Cal would run some different sets, but he is always going to go with those few sets he has been running for years. The results certainly have not been too bad, but I would say we would have 1 or 2 more championships if we were better offensively. We basically have the circle play, elbow, and then the weave. I think that's about it. Last yer he ran a play to get Knox the ball down around the block area that worked very well. If I remember right it involved a pick from PJ and then Knox was either in a great position for a shot, or could hit PJ. Wish we would try that some with Herro/Keldon and PJ or Travis.

1 thing that would help our offense out is if Richards would hold his pick longer, then roll. He is one of the worst screeners I have ever seen. That should be an easy fix. Just tell him he has to stay set for 2 full seconds then roll. IF he would just hold the screen either he would be wide open, the dribbler would get open, or there might be a switch and he is in great position for an offensive rebound.

As much as I have complained about our 3 pt defense in the past, Cal has them peaking now.

I'm fine with the offensive sets that Cal runs. The execution is what is lacking and most of that execution breakdown comes from this team not passing the ball on time or a player not making the correct cut.

Several times last night UK could have had dunks and layups, but all of the guards were delayed in either seeing the open man opposite of the ball or if they did see them it was one second too late.

Heck even on Herro's three at the end of the game. Keldon was probably a half second late delivering the ball. The Houston player almost blocked it.

One glaring play that showed not making the correct cut was when PJ anticipated Herro going back door. PJ delivered the ball perfectly and on time and Herro stopped.

ukman, I agree completely. Herro is expending too much energy running from sise to side while everyone else sets picks. Our big men are not passing out of the double teams quick enough, and I’m not sure what KJ does. Seems like he drives into a swarm of people and throws up wild shots.
Auburn plays an up-tempo, so I look for more scoring in that game. Just hope we can limit AU’s threes somewhat.

I've said on more than one occasion this year that I would like to put a pedometer on Herro to see just how many steps he does get in a single outing!

Now that I have recovered from what looked like a sure trip home early, I have to say that really, this is the worse team Cal has had in several years. They only play well in limited amout of time in most games. The rest of the time they are making turnovers and not guarding their player on the 3 point line. If Auburn makes double digit 3's we are toast. We still don't know how to protect a double digit lead. Just when you think we are outstanding free throw shooters we miss as bad as we did down the stretch last night. The interesting thing is how Duke has managed to win two games by the other team missing a last second shot. Then again it's also interesting to see we have 3 of the #1 seeds in the final along with #2 UK.

We don't really know how to play with a lead because often times Cal tells them to slow down. I wish they would learn to push the ball every chance they get, but learn to push for layups, if it's not there, then set up. We are not at our best when we walk the ball up the floor. Any time we have a double digit lead it seems that Cal tries to always work the clock. Sometimes it pays off, but there have been several times in the past it has not. I say let the boys run and trust them to play smart. Hard to do that now as they needed to do that early in the year so they kept learning how to play fast, but smart.

Agree UKman. It's alright to slow it down with 2 minutes to go but with 5-6 minutes it's too early to stop what got you where you are.

Personally I think Coach is doing great with his game planning. We are in the final eight after all!

This team is a grind it out team - and transition when it is available period....

We run with UH we get our butts beat!

p.s. plus it is no accident that our last two opponents shot a low %. Vert good defensive team..

Agree. What Cal is doing is correct. I just want to see a little better execution by the players. This team shouldn't turn it over more than 6 or 7 times a game.

Thanks, Ed and Trey. I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one to think Cal is doing a great job. The "back seat driving" gets tiresome to me, but that's just me. I'm a cranky old man. "Get off of my lawn!"
