No matter how you look at it Kentucky is going to get screwed in this deal.

If they end up with the #1 Seed in the South they are going to have either UNC or Duke as the #2. If they end up as a #2 Seed they are going to up with with UNC or Duke as the #1.

The committee has never put UNC and Duke in the same bracket and it will not happen this year either.

They will not even consider making UK a #2 in the East Region with Virginia (Sorry I'm not a believer in Virginia no matter how much anyone tells me they are great) and they will never stick Michigan State as a #2 in the South.

I'm done worrying about the seeds after reaching this conclusion. No matter how you cut it, two of the three best teams in the Country are going to end up in the same bracket. My guess is that will be UK and UNC since the Committee will do anything to give Duke the easiest path.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

I have grown to expect that kind of seeding for us every year. The NCAA have an ax to grind with Kentucky basketball and apparently want to make it as hard as they can for them to win a championship.

Trey, that pretty much sums it up. Although I still see lots of things that can happen between now and Sunday. I can see Michigan State being a wildcard as a #1 seed. If they win the Big Ten title, and with the love affair the committee usually has for Michigan State, they could put them in there instead of someone else. What happens if Florida St. knocks off Virginia tonight? Then I don’t think Virginia is deserving a 1 seed. Anyway I agree with all your UNC/Duke scenarios.

I bet more than not that the 1 and 2 seeds meet in a regional final. I think people put too much stock in the seedings.

I'm convinced that it's a conspiracy. It's the ghost of John Wooden making sure we don't catch up with his record championships. Although we should have already surpassed him but for the failures in recent years. Nine of them under Cal.

PC,

I actually just saw an article the other day and I was surprised. The #1 Seed gets to the Regional Final and Final Four at almost twice the rate as a #2 Seed.

I'll see if I can find it again. I was shocked when I read that.

I rest my case on Virginia. FSU by double digits.

PC,

This wasn’t the article I originally saw but gives a complete breakdown.

I just don't understand how va will maintain that #1 seed. They always say the committee looks at the overall body of work and not just the recent stuff, but they haven't impressed me much all season.

I had to re-read my post - what i originally wrote was backwards. What i meant was that more times than not, #1 and #2 seeds do NOT meet in the regionals. There are always so many upsets in this thing that 2 seeds shouldn't worry about which 1 seed is in their bracket, and vice versa.

PC,

Got it, but there is a big difference in the amount of time that the 1 seed advances to the Regional Final vs the 2 seed.

I never thought there was a huge difference but there is. I was shocked by the percentage difference.

I just think it is funny how Lunardi says UNC is now a #1 over UK. They have the same record, advanced to the same level in their conference tournament, and UK holds a pretty convincing NEUTRAL court win over them. Oh and UK has more Quadrant one wins.

Trey are all of you guys forgetting that Mitch Bardhart is on the selection committee? If what you and others does actually happen with him on the board then he wouldn't dare show his face at UK would he?

I don't understand all the respect that Lunardi gets. He makes an educated guess, but he has biases as well. We all want to believe that there are people out there that just know things. Personally, I think he has let his fame go to his head.

Jay Bilis just said regardless if Tennessee and Michigan St. Wins their tournament, he said NC, Duke and viginia should get all no. 1 seeds. He said if Duke wins they will be the overall 1 seed.

I heard that. He insinuated that UK would be a 2 seed even if they had won today. I think he is dead wrong. If we would've won the SEC tourney we would've gotten a 1 seed. But Tennessee should be a 1 seed before us. They beat us twice. To say UK an UT are both 2 seeds is just crazy.

Food for thought, since 1979 #1 seeds won the title 23 times while the #2 seeds won it 7 times.

I also would go west if we were a 2 seed to Gonzaga. The only other choice I would take would be a 2 seed to Virginia.
