Once Tenn switched to the zone with about 3 minutes to go, we did not seem to know how to attack it. Ky has never played really well against zones, we just don't have the zone buster three point shooters.

SCWC,
Yep. I agree. That is why I am almost certain that Syracuse will be in UK’s bracket and be the potential 2nd Round opponent.
-------------------- Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

SCWC I think it was a combination of facing the zone and Travis fouling out.

I think that Barnes coached a heck of a game, and made a big difference. I don't think Cal did anything bad, but Barnes just made one great move after another in that second half. The zone was a great move, then the press that caught us by surprise, he totally took Herro away, and he had his guys pound it inside in the last few minutes to Williams. He also helped them score on 3 plays coming out of timeouts. That is great efficiency coming out of timeouts. Refs definitely didn't help in the end, but as bad as they were we still should have won that game. Definitely harder when it's 5 on 8, but we had it right there for us. Turnovers and bad offensive possessions killed us in the end. Hopefully we see our best in the NCAA's.

I personally felt the 5th foul they called on Travis was probably the turning point of the game. Replays showed he never touched Williams on his shot but they counted the basket and gave him a free throw for a three point play. Tenn had 3 three point plays in the last two and a half minutes. Also, that block call that was called late giving Williams another three point play really hurt, that was clearly a charge. Officials never gave us one call in the last ten minutes of that game today. [ 03-16-2019, 07:30 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

I think we have good enough shooters to bust a zone(Herro, Quickley, Baker, Johnson , Washington) , but we do not have an offense that can get enough open looks. I just heard that Herro did not have a shot in the last 12:30 of the second half. That is inexcusable. What lost the game was the typical “stall ball” we played the last 6 minutes. We had UT on the run, went up by 8 points and then shut down offensively. UT hit some big threes and PJ missed a contested 1 foot put back and that was the ball game. Hagans had an excellent assist game. I just wish he and others had handled things better in the last 3 minutes.

SWC, I definitely agree, but I have just come to expect that in our games. It's just how it is and we have to find ways to win. It's not right, but refs are worse than they have ever been in almost every sport.
