Cats were just not very good on the offensive end the last 30 minutes of the game. Unforced turnovers and very poor shot selection.

They totally forgot to get the ball to Keldon Johnson. He can’t only have 9 shots in the game with 4 minutes to play.

As I’m typing this they finally get him the ball.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

Travis was terrible today. Unforced TO’s and took a lot of really bad shots.

Trey, this is the weakest talent we have had since the 2013 NIT team. Cal says this is his best three point shooting team yet he runs no three point offense for them. We just do not have any player that can carry this team on their shoulders this season. Good kids but not very good basketball talent. I like Hagans and Kelden Johnson, they do hustle all the time. Our front court of Travis and Washington is not a duo that will beat too many teams in the SEC the way they play. We have no rim protector and play very poor defense. I look for this group to have double digit losses this season. I have been consistent since early in the season, I am not that impressed with our talent or the offense and defense we play. I hope they prove my instincts totally wrong.

I agree about Travis, don't see how he made all Pac 12 two years in a row. He is just not that talented as a basketball player. I have never seen a player miss as many lay up variety shots as he does.

SCWC,

I think they need to focus more on running set plays for Johnson and Herro. Too many possessions in row go by where those two do not get a touch or at least a touch in a position where they can make a play.

I really like Hagans too. I think PJ and Travis need to only get their shots as the secondary option off of drives and lobs from Hagans/Herro/Johnson. I would run very few called plays for those two and it seems like Cal is enamored with pounding the ball in the post.

UK just had too many empty possessions today. This is a game that I feel as though UK "truly lost" vs. Alabama actually "beating them".

Sad thing as poorly as UK played it took a 28% three point shooter from Alabama going 6-6 int he first half to keep them in the game. Only against UK that will happen. He will go back to being a 28% three point shooter the rest of the season.

I agree totally with your views on this team Trey, Johnson and Travis are Cal's main options offensively. If you want to beat us, stop Herro and Johnson and that is what Bama did today. They just did not get enough shots out of any set offense that I could detect. Hagans is my favorite player on this team, he does all the so called dirty work, defending and running the offense without being a vital scoring option.

Cal is blaming the team for this loss. I agree, they lost to a team they should have beat but they just did not appear to be prepared to play Bama in my opinion. Cal shares a lot of the blame for this loss.

I will say this about this team however:

They have learned how to compete. I do think they all give effort and play hard and if that continues they will have a good season, but I don't think they will be able to compete with the Elite teams to take home Title #9, which makes it hard to enjoy the season.

Yep, I love Hagans game. Best on ball defender UK has had since Cliff Hawkins and if he keeps it up he may end up being a better on ball defender than Cliff and I didn't think I would ever say that.

Cal said on the radio show that they were supposed to be taking the ball inside more than they did. I felt Travis did as much as anyone to cost us today's game. He made some really bone headed plays. Cal says he reverted to the Travis that came to UK and did not play the game they have asked and taught him to play, whatever that means.

Herro had an off shooting day today. I've been saying it since we saw them play in the Bahama's. As Herro goes, so goes our Cats. He needs to average 17 points a game for us to have a chance to win!
He only shot 2-6 inside the arc, that's not good!

Someone said it a few weeks ago and I have thought it for the last three years:

UK plays better offense generally in the first half when Cal isn't constantly trying to direct every single player on the floor. I think the players get a little hesitant. Maybe not, but that is what it looks like to me.

This team ranks 107th in 3 point shooting percentage (36%). Today we went 5-18 for 27.8%.

You can blame losses on defense, rebounding, turnovers etc. But when it comes right down to it what loses games is not scoring enough points. That's what happened today. You can't score points by missing all kinds of layups.

If you look at the stats the one stat that jumps out is the difference in 3 point shooting. We go 5-18 (27.8%) compared to Bama's 10-23 (43.5%), that's a difference of plus 15 points for Bama. We actually scored more baskets and 1 more free throw than Bama, it was the 3 pointers that beat us.
